The Advanced Digital Innovation Center (ADIC) at the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC), based in Lecce, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientific Digital Innovation Senior Coordinator. This role will coordinate all individuals involved in coding and service implementation across CMCC’s research divisions, ensuring that digital tools and services effectively support climate change research.

ROLE
The Scientific Digital Innovation Senior Coordinator plays a crucial role in optimizing, integrating, and aligning digital tools, software, and services used within CMCC’s research environment. Reporting to the ADIC Director, the selected candidate will lead initiatives aimed at improving collaboration, sharing best practices, and fostering the effective use of digital solutions across the Foundation.
By ensuring consistency and efficiency in digital development, this role will facilitate seamless collaboration between software developers, researchers, and data scientists, enabling CMCC to maximize the impact of its climate research. The position combines strategic leadership, digital innovation, and technical coordination to create an efficient, forward-thinking digital ecosystem that accelerates climate change research and scientific discovery.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Scientific Digital Innovation Senior Coordinator will support the ADIC center with:
* Strategic Coordination & Digital Optimization:
o Contributing to the definition of ADIC’s vision and mission, supporting the development of long-term strategies.
o Defining and implementing a cohesive digital strategy that enhances collaboration and efficiency across research divisions.
o Ensuring the harmonization of digital tools and workflows, optimizing their integration and usability in scientific research.
* Innovation & Technology Management:
o Leading the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies to support software and service development for climate research.
o Identifying and implementing best practices in software development, ensuring consistency in coding standards, documentation, and quality control.
* Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:
o Establishing a structured knowledge-sharing ecosystem, fostering collaboration among developers, engineers, and climate scientists.
o Encouraging interdisciplinary teamwork by facilitating joint projects and enhancing communication between technical and scientific teams.
* Leadership & Team Development:
o Coordinating multidisciplinary software development teams, ensuring alignment with CMCC’s research priorities.
o Promoting an inclusive and innovative work environment, supporting skill development, and mentoring team members.
REQUIREMENTS
* Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field.
* At least 10 years of experience in scientific research and technological development.
* Strong background in software development and digital services for research applications.
* Demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing collaborative projects.
* Excellent organizational and coordination skills.
* Proven leadership abilities and a proactive approach to innovation.
* Full-stack development experience, with expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies.
* Fluency in English, with strong communication skills for working in an international, interdisciplinary environment.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
* Experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools.
* Ability to develop technical documentation and scientific reports.
* Strong capability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Experience in collaborative software development and open-source contributions.
DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
* Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
* The Manager will be based in Lecce CMCC office.
* Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience.
* Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract.
* Flexible working time as per internal policies.
