* Clearance Requirements: Tier 1 Public Trust Background Investigation - National Agency Check with Law Enforcement, Fingerprints, and Credit Check (Standard Form 85).
* Estimated Compensation: $90,000 to $120,000 per year (negotiable).
* Overseas Bonus: Negotiable.
* Type of Employment: 40 hours per week.
* Period of Performance: 29 July 2025 - 28 July 2026 (Option to Extend Services)

* Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year, occurring on day one.

Working Hours
Work will be scheduled generally from 0730 a.m. to 1630 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, there may be times when employees must work outside of duty hours and/or on weekends to support specific tasks. Although the schedule may have to be flexible, it will not exceed 40 hours per week. Temporary alternate work locations may be assigned.
Summary of Duties
The Registered Nurse - Special Needs Coordinator (SNC) will manage and oversee the implementation of the Exceptional Family Member Program - Medical (EFMP-M) in accordance with Department of Defense and Air Force policies, as well as any subsequent implementing guidance. The Registered Nurse will utilize clinical assessment skills and adhere to established procedures to promptly identify sponsors whose family members have special medical and educational needs.
Mandatory Qualifications
* Possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited program. A Master Degree in Nursing is preferred.
* Hold a current state Nursing or a Multistate License.
* Two years of experience working with patients with Special Needs and/or two years of experience working within the Department of Defense Exceptional Family Member Program - Medical program.
Duties/Responsibilities:
* Employ a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach with key service providers, such as installation youth and childcare facilities and officer and enlisted spouses' groups, to ensure effective outreach and identification of special needs.
* Ensure that family members of Air Force personnel are appropriately "Q-coded" (EFMP-enrolled) in the personnel and EFMP records.
* Independently assesses the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their families, formulates and implements treatment plans, and collaborates with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary treatment team to identify problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills, and necessary assistance.
* Ensure that all active-duty sponsors known to the Air Force Personnel Center, local Military Personnel Section, and/or Commander Support Staff (where applicable) with family members who have special needs are identified in the AF medical special needs data management systems and that they provide oversight for base-level data entry.
* Provide clinical training to installation personnel and medical staff and offer consultations as needed to support the implementation of EFMP-M base-wide.
* Be integrally involved in the Family Member Relocation Clearance (FMRC) process, ensuring all FMRC requirements are met. Coordinate the enrollment process and travel screening for active-duty family members and facilitate travel screening upon request for DoD-sponsored assignments to the Continental United States or Overseas bases.
* Provides clinical oversight to ensure that every Air Force sponsor with one or more family members with special needs assigned to the installation has a Special Needs file maintained at the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) and that Q-coded sponsors are contacted annually to assess unmet needs and update information. They collaborate with the Integrated Delivery System (IDS) and other interagency forums that provide family medical information and referrals, ensuring EFMP families are referred to the Airman and Family Readiness Center for additional support.
* Maintain cooperative relationships with the base Military Personnel Section (MPS), Commander Support Staff (CSS), and the Air Force Personnel Center (AFPC), and actively supports the integration of EFMP-M, EFMP-Family Support (EFMP-FS), and EFMP-Assignments (EFMP-A) services at the installation.
* Participate in EFMP quarterly case reviews to assess newly identified families, address complex or unmet clinical needs, and determine appropriate resources.
* Conduct patient-specific assessments and clinical plans of action are documented in Military Health System - Electronic Health Record (MHSGENESIS), while meeting minutes exclude patient-identifying information.
* Coordinates and participates in designated facility meetings, clinic orientations, and training sessions for Special Needs Program staff, and may serve on committees, work groups, and task forces.
* Maintain a level of productivity and quality consistent with the complexity of assignments, facility policies, ethical standards, Health Services Inspection (HSI) guidelines, and other applicable DoD and service-specific policies. Compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Program, infection control, and safety policies is required.
* Follow all local MTF, Air Force, and DoD instructions, policies, and guidelines; complete medical record documentation and coding; maintain designated tracking logs and data reports; and fulfill all required electronic medical record training, MTF-specific orientation, and SNC training programs.
