Job Description Summary:
A key role within a busy, pan-European legal team, acting as senior legal counsel in Italy, responsible for managing all administrative law aspects related to the company’s operations in Italy. The position requires and provides for the development of a wide range of legal, management and communication skills through (i) assistance with all types of administrative work, (ii) the co-operation with internal commercial managers, and (iii) the provision of advice to internal stakeholders on various legal and compliance matters.
Job Description:
The role will (i) provide strategic legal support to the business, ensuring compliance with Italian administrative law and (ii) support the wider team to provide timely and relevant advice to other teams within the Nadara business in relation to renewable energy projects to ensure successful operations, with a focus on:
* Providing legal support for the development of renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with Italian regulations.
* Advising on permitting processes and regulatory approvals at local, regional, and national levels.
* Liaising with public authorities, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders when needed.
* Negotiating and drafting land lease agreements, purchase agreements, easements, and other real estate-related contracts.
* Managing Notary Public’s activity.
* Ensuring compliance with zoning and land-use regulations.
* Handling and coordinating legal disputes related to permitting, land agreements, and other administrative or regulatory matters.
* Managing external counsel when necessary.
* Monitoring changes in Italian administrative and energy laws, ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks and liaising with the Regulatory Team.
* Advising on public tenders, subsidies, and regulatory incentives applicable to renewable energy projects.
* Drafting and negotiating commercial agreements related to project development agreements.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Law degree from an accredited Italian university.
* 7+ years of legal experience, preferably in the renewable energy or infrastructure sector.
* Expertise in administrative law, permitting, real estate, and litigation in Italy.
* Strong knowledge of Italian energy regulations and environmental permitting processes.
* Experience in negotiating contracts with landowners, municipalities, and regulatory authorities.
* Excellent legal drafting and negotiation skills in Italian and English.
* Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
* Experience working in a multinational or corporate environment is an advantage.
