Gorgonzola hosts the Navigations Air Systems (NAS) domain, which focuses on avionics, navigation, and radar systems for civil air traffic and technologies supporting the activities of civilian and military pilots, ATC controllers, and technicians of several airlines, air traffic control agencies, and Air Forces around the world. Italy is the Group’s Competence Center for the design, production, and delivery of Navigation Aids products and non-Radar Surveillance Products.
We are currently looking for a System IVVQ engineer to join Thales Land and Air Systems in its NAS Center of Competence in Gorgonzola (near Milan).
Key Responsibilities and Tasks:
As a System IVVQ engineer within Thales, you will manage all testing activities and:
1. Support the definition of IVVQ strategy and generation of associated estimates and schedule.
2. Propose IVVQ testing methods, acceptance criteria, and manage their implementation.
3. Communicate design non-compliances to the team and wider internal/external stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
4. Lead IVVQ activities either on-site at Gorgonzola or at the customer’s premises to deliver evidence of compliance with requirements.
5. Prepare System IVVQ activities.
6. Analyse test results and/or data and produce technical reports.
7. Highlight any technical risks associated with the IVVQ phase to the EDM and PDA, proposing suitable actions to mitigate and manage IVVQ risks.
8. Liaise with the PDA and Architect to ensure that IVVQ is in line with the design and compliant with all requirements.
9. Support capitalisation activities for the department as well as lessons learned.
10. Ensure unambiguous testability of requirements.
The role may require some travel abroad.
Profile:
1. You graduated from an Engineering School with a Master’s degree and have 2 or more years’ experience in IVVQ.
2. You have a good understanding of IVVQ strategies and philosophies.
3. You have experience in continuous integration, test activities, and formal verification or validation activities.
4. You are an effective team player who can interface at all levels across the organization.
5. You can operate successfully in a multi-cultural environment, working effectively with teams distributed across different sites/countries.
6. You have strong organizational and teamwork skills.
7. You have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good negotiation skills, and a recognized capacity to convince all types of stakeholders.
8. You enjoy thinking outside the box and being creative.
Competencies:
1. Basic knowledge of Navaids equipment such as ILS, VOR, TACAN, DME, and in the technical field of air traffic management and the various regulations/standards such as EN, ICAO, or specific local standards.
2. Knowledge of Software/Hardware safety assurance standards: EUROCAE ED-109A (RTCA DO-278A), EUROCAE ED-80 (RTCA DO-254), EUROCAE ED-153.
3. Proficient in the use of issue tracking software (e.g., Jira).
4. Proficient in the use of requirement and test management tools (e.g., DOORS, VIVALDI).
5. Fluent in English and Italian; the ability to speak additional languages such as French is a benefit.
