Proteomics Field Applications Scientist - Europe
As a Field Applications Scientist hereat Illumina you will be responsible for all aspects of customer success. The Staff Field Applications Scientist partners with internal and external stakeholders to provide and support implementation, training, troubleshooting and complaint resolution of Illumina’s portfolio. Within the role, you will be expected to provide second-level support to front-line colleagues, serve as a scientific expert in pre- and post-sales activities across Europe and build and maintain strong relationships with different stakeholders across multiple cross-functioning teams within the organization.
The position will be based within one of our Europe locations, we are open to the following locations for the role; UK, Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, Belgium and the Nordics. It is essential to have a valid driving license, with the flexibility to travel up to 60%. Fluent English language skills are essential with and additional European language being highly preferred.

Responsibilities:
1. Pre-sales activities support, including consultation on complex lab and experimental design, workflow implementation and data analysis and storage.
2. Partner with Commercial sales stakeholders to develop and execute strategic plans for winning new business, expanding current customer install base and ensuring customer and business success through consulting, workshops, presentations, demonstrations, and seminars.
3. Manage complex, large-scale customer workflow implementations/installations and assist with customer onboarding.
4. Conduct on-site/virtual customer trainings for Illumina portfolio in area of expertise (Proteomics).
5. Ability to manage high-priority projects and responsibilities to drive overall departmental goals.
6. Responsible for customer relationship management, understanding customer goals, setting appropriate product and performance expectations and utilizes intelligence regarding competitive intel to remove barriers and identify new sales opportunities. Support Illumina in making our customers the heroes.
7. Support internal stakeholders as subject matter expert to resolve customer complaints related to the Proteomics workflow. Assist in customer elevations and utilize appropriate internal resources to resolve customer issue and manage customer expectations.
8. Support New Product Introductions by providing alpha/beta test feedback, serve as departmental lead on product core teams, some activities include writing technical bulletins, SOPs, and internal training materials.
9. Evaluate risk of technical updates and provide guidance to regional field teams to effectively plan and communicate changes to internal and external stakeholders to drive customer success.
10. Lead departmental project teams; create regional strategies and activities to address support needs. Ensure project goals are aligned with business/departmental objectives and work collaboratively to drive successful execution of project plans, track, manage and communicate progress to team and stakeholders.
11. Participate and collaborate with Commercial function (Sales/Marketing/Support) to solicit competitive customer feedback, to understand competitor activities and innovations within the marketplace and to incorporate market trends into strategy development.
12. Demonstrate mentorship and coaching skills to junior members of the team and to colleagues.
13. Represent the company professionally, ethically, and morally at all times.
Requirements:
14. PhD in Molecular Biology or related scientific field or MS and some years of experience OR extensive work experience within biotechnology field
15. Excellent knowledge in proteomics and biomarker discovery
16. Strong experience with hands on work within a laboratory, molecular biology techniques and general lab best practices, experience with Novaseq 6000 or Novaseq X is a plus
17. Knowledge and experience in liquid handling automation systems
18. Strong knowledge and experience of genomics, sequencing applications, and Illumina’s technology
19. Experience in proteomics data analysis, previous experience with Partek software is a plus.
20. Ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders at different levels both internally and externally
21. Outstanding written, verbal, presentation, and training skills, capable of conveying complex information with clarity.
22. Proven ability to resolve complex customer issues whilst maintaining positive customer relations
23. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
24. Demonstrate a customer-first mindset to ensure customer success
25. Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team
