The United Nations Global Service Centre (UNGSC) provides critical Supply Chain, Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies services and Training to all peacekeeping and special political missions around the world as well as to other UN Offices, Agencies Funds and Programs. This Internship is located in the Solutions and Support Unit (SSU) within the Client Solutions Delivery Section (CSDS) under the Service for Geospatial, Information and Telecommunications Technologies (SGITT) at UNGSC in Brindisi. The internship is for six (6) months. One (1) post is available. The internship is unpaid and full-time.
Responsibilities
Our interns work as full members of our team, pursue projects that are designed to make a significant difference in UNGSC, and have opportunities to learn about the United Nations overall. The Intern will work under the direct guidance of Chief SSU and will be responsible for the following duties:
1. Assist in creating, scheduling, and moderating content for UN Maps and UN Mappers social media channels, coordinating with the social media manager to ensure engagement and community growth.
2. Support the development of graphic, multimedia, and written content, including press releases, blogs, infographics, newsletters, and website updates, to promote UN Maps activities.
3. Contribute to outreach and collaboration efforts with OpenStreetMap (OSM) contributors, organizations, and the broader mapping community.
4. Help organize and advertise mapping events, such as mapathons and training sessions, both virtual and in-person, to expand participation and awareness.
5. Track key performance metrics, engage with followers, and collaborate with internal design and communication teams to maintain cohesive brand messaging across platforms.
6. Other duties as required.
