YOUR TEAM The Research Line is led by Dr. Lucia Beccai, with extensive experience in bioinspired smart tactile sensing systems, bionics, biorobotics, and soft robotics. The research aims at creating new technologies for embodied sensing processes in soft robots, with a focus on touch, enabling them to ‘see the world’ and intelligently interact with it, for helping humans in the real world. You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where engineers (mechanical, electrical, biomedical, etc.), material and computer science experts collaborate, each with their own expertise, to carry out common research with outstanding facilities. Within the team, your main responsibilities will be: To design and develop the hardware platforms needed to test the sensors, actuators, and robots that are developed in the lab; To support the fabrication and testing of soft sensors and soft actuator systems; To assist with lab logistics, lab safety procedures, contacting providers, and purchasing of goods/equipment. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS MSc in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotics; 2-year professional experience in an experimental laboratory; Strong hands-on experience about: Design, assembly, and testing of electromechanical set-ups; Software/programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Labview, Matlab, etc.); Electronic instruments (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeter, data logger, analyzers); Universal electromechanical testing machines. Good knowledge of electronic and mechanical CAD software; Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment; Efficient organization, storage, and reporting of research data; Good command of spoken and written English. ADDITIONAL SKILLS PhD in areas related to electronic engineering, microtechnology, mechatronics, robotics will be a significant added value; Creative and strong attitude toward problem-solving; Good communication skills; Strong time and priority management skills.
