Job Title: Inspector and Expediter – Machinery and Equipment for Petrochemical and Oil & Gas Industry
Position Overview:
The Inspector and Expediter will support the inspection, expediting, maintenance, and evaluation of machinery and equipment in the petrochemical and oil & gas industries.
This role involves conducting thorough non-destructive testing (NDT) to ensure the safety, reliability, and compliance of equipment.
The candidate will work under the guidance of senior inspectors and engineers to assist in the identification of defects, material failures, and inconsistencies in machinery and structural components.
Key Activities and Responsibilities:
* Conduct inspection and expediting visits for assigned suppliers and sub-suppliers.
* Analyze and verify inspection test plans issued by suppliers and sub-suppliers and manage notifications for inspections.
* Review inspection NDT procedures issued by suppliers.
* Perform NDT techniques including Visual Testing (VT), Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiographic Testing (RT), and Eddy Current Testing.
* Assist in preparing testing environments, equipment setup, and calibration under supervision.
* Record and interpret test results for accuracy and conformity to standards.
* Verify and review final documentation (certification dossier) prepared by Suppliers during the execution of the job as per contractual requirements.
Compliance and Reporting:
* Ensure inspections comply with industry standards, codes, and client requirements.
* Assist in preparing clear and detailed inspection reports.
* Document findings in a systematic manner to support maintenance or repair decisions.
Maintenance Support:
* Identify and report potential issues in machinery or equipment to senior inspectors.
* Support maintenance teams with recommendations for corrective action based on inspection results.
Safety and Quality Assurance:
* Follow safety protocols during inspections in hazardous environments.
* Ensure tools and equipment are in proper working order and used according to guidelines.
Continuous Learning:
* Stay updated with industry advancements and new inspection techniques.
* Participate in additional training to advance to higher NDT certification levels.
Additional Tasks:
In addition to standard inspection duties, the Inspector may be required to perform the following additional tasks belonging to Expediting Activities:
* Monitoring Supplier Progress:
o Ensure that suppliers adhere to agreed production schedules and deliverables;
o identify and report any potential delays, taking proactive steps to mitigate their impact.
* Follow-Up on Deliverables:
o Track the status of critical documents, components, and materials required for ongoing projects;
o coordinate with suppliers to obtain timely updates on manufacturing and delivery milestones.
* On-Site Visits for Expediting:
o conduct on-site visits to supplier facilities to verify production progress and assess any potential bottlenecks;
o confirm the availability of raw materials, workforce, and equipment in alignment with production needs.
* Risk Reporting:
o assess and communicate risks related to non-compliance with timelines or specifications;
o collaborate with project managers to develop and implement recovery plans when delays occur.
* Documentation Management:
o maintain accurate records of expediting activities, including progress reports, supplier communications, and action plans;
o Prepare detailed expediting reports for management and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Requirements:

* Certification: NDT Level 1 certification in VT, PT, MT, UT, RT, and Eddy Current Testing is preferred.
* Education: Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or a related field is preferred.
* Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in NDT inspections or similar roles in the petrochemical or oil & gas industry is an advantage.
* Skills: Strong understanding of NDT techniques and their applications. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and industry standards. Attention to detail and good observational skills. Basic knowledge of industry safety protocols and hazard management.
Work Environment:
On-site inspections at petrochemical plants, oil refineries, and related facilities.
Availability to travel for short periods in Italy and abroad.
Exposure to high-risk areas; personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and must be used.
Physical requirements include standing, climbing, and working in confined spaces.
Fluent English speaker and writer.
Team worker and effective communicator.
