Job Summary
We are seeking a Gate Manager for our multinational port company. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of gate-in and gate-out activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and manage gate operations resources to minimize time loss and identify areas for improvement;
* Manage shifts, holidays, and absences (such as no-shows, illness, strikes, or holidays);
* Organize continuous training for department employees;
* Identify tasks and goals, set priorities, and execute daily tasks efficiently;
* Ensure gates operations continuity and business continuity at the Terminal Gates on a 24/7 basis;
* Respond to duty phone and support gates operations at any time;
* Verify cargo integrity inside the terminal through physical checks and system instructions;
* Ensure 100% cargo registration at the gate in the gate system;
* Support the strategy of the Terminal on Gate activities;
* Track and monitor gate operations for all terminal operations (container/RORO and General Cargo);
* Monitor exchanges with external depots and ICD;
* Deliver gate KPIs for management reporting;
* Measure and report on gate operational performance and develop plans to improve relevant key performance indicators;
* Raise alerts when necessary and escalate to management;
* Improve existing operational processes to achieve customer expectations;
* Set standards and procedures for external suppliers (e.g., SDN) and monitor their performance;
* Manage emergencies according to internal safety control plans;
* Coordinate IMO classified cargoes in accordance with internal procedures;
* Check and control instructions received in relation to reefer cargo;
* Establish and monitor KPI reporting to evaluate gate performances;
* Act as a single point of contact with terminal stakeholders for Gate operations (trucking companies, truck drivers, ICD managers, Fernetti manager, GdF/ Customs, Dozvola, Shipping Lines, representatives, etc.).
* Collaborate with shipping companies and their agents, customs agents, port authority to ensure operational requirements are met;
* Act as a single point of contact for the project for IT, project management, and technical team;
* Log and maintain the gate systems Knowledge Error Database and ensure that gate operators are continuously updated on the last updates projects implementation for future terminal developments;
* Gate project owner/manager for new developments of the actual configuration and for the future features of the new gates;
* Enhance Quality, Health, Safety, Environment policies, and procedures to meet international standards and provide a safe working environment for all employees;
* Establish processes by following global operational standards and shareholders' instructions;
* Ensure consistency of security standards.
Requirements:
* Strong understanding of logistics stakes;
* University degree in logistics, maritime, and port, or process/industrial engineering;
* Related business studies are desirable;
* Management experience;
* Preferrable experience in container shipping industry end-to-end and ability to relate with shipping company and other associated industry managers is preferred;
* Experience in handling technical issues and negotiations with third parties is desirable.
