In this context, the Remote Sensing for Digital Earth (RSDE) Research Unit of the Digital Society Center deals with the analysis of remote sensing images for Earth observation and space exploration, consistent with the Foundation's objectives.

Planned activities
The RSDE Research Unit of the Digital Society Center is looking for a young recent graduate interested in pursuing an internship experience in the analysis of data acquired by radar sounders on different environments, including Mars, the Moon, and terrestrial cryosphere. The ideal candidate is a proactive and dynamic young person with good organizational and interpersonal skills, with a propensity for teamwork, motivated to undertake a training experience in an international context.
The intern, working alongside the Research Unit staff, will mainly contribute to the development of the following activities: Analysis of the state of the art in radar sounder data processing with deep learning and machine learning; Preprocessing of the radar data to create a deep learning/machine learning oriented dataset; Definition of a novel method based on deep learning to identify subsurface geological targets; Definition of a robust experimental strategy to validate the proposed methods.
The opportunity to join the team in other active and developing projects during the internship period and to gain experience in a dynamic and challenging environment such as FBK will also be offered.
Requirements Possession of master’s degree in computer science, data science, artificial intelligence, Telecommunication and/or Electronic Engineering; Knowledge of major subjects related to computer science; Fluent knowledge of written and spoken English (min. level B2); Relational and teamwork skills; Good adaptability, flexibility and initiative skills; Computer skills in the use of python and Matlab
