Opdenergy is a growing independent renewable energy producer (IPP) with presence in Europe, United States and Latin America with more than 19 years’ experience. The company develops, builds, finances, manages and operates high quality renewable energy projects in several countries, with a portfolio of 2,6 GW (1,3 operational and + 1,3 ready to build / under construction) assets in operations and construction, whole portfolio under development sums up to over 18 GW.
As a Business Development Director, you will be responsible for driving the growth and strategic development of renewable energy projects, from opportunity identification to successful execution. Your responsibilities will include:
What will you help with
1. Identifying and evaluating new business opportunities in the renewable energy sector, focusing on PV wind and BESS projects.
2. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including investors, developers, landowners, and public authorities.
3. Leading the origination and negotiation of agreements, such as land leases, co-development partnerships, PPAs, and SPAs.
4. Collaborating with internal teams to assess the feasibility, risks, and potential of projects during the development phase.
5. Overseeing market analysis to identify trends, policy changes, and growth opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
6. Driving the preparation of business cases and investment proposals to secure internal and external approvals.
7. Managing the portfolio of development projects, ensuring alignment with company objectives and priorities.
8. Representing the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings to enhance its market presence and reputation.
What We’re Looking For
1. A degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA is a plus.
2. At least 5 years of experience in business development, project development, or a similar role in the renewable energy industry.
3. Strong knowledge of renewable energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and project development processes.
4. Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
5. A proven track record of delivering successful renewable energy projects or partnerships.
6. Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
7. A results-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams.
