The Graduate Program consists of two assignments: Your first 12-month assignment will be in the Sony Europe Technology Development Centre (EUTDC) in Italy, where you will have the opportunity to work on an R&D assignment, e.g. to develop a new IP. Depending on your willingness and training needs, you will have the opportunity to spend up to one month in our Japanese Head Quarter. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity for a second assignment, up to 6 months in another Sony Design Centre in Norway. On this occasion, you will gain a dynamic and challenging view of Sony Semiconductor Solutions Europe, its diverse technologies, projects and different markets. Finally, in the final 6-month assignment, you will have the opportunity to put into practice what you learn with a new project including product design. As part of the 2-year program, you will be exposed to a broad range of technologies, resources and activities. At the end of your second assignment, in October 2027, you will be ready to thrive & take on a new responsibility and further develop your career in Sony Europe in a permanent role in our international and multicultural team. Job Purpose: Reporting to the Digital Design Manager, this position is expected to work on Firmware development and digital hardware design for CMOS image sensors. Within the first two years, the candidate should be able to actively contribute to developing FW for both testing and functional modes of the sensor device. Digital design and verification knowledge are also part of the expected duties, including the following: block specification, RTL coding, digital design flow (synthesis, STA and CDC), UVM and verification. This position is expected to collaborate with other teams inside Sony, such as the digital design and verification team, analogue design, and application, and because of the kind of role, it is supposed to acquire a wide knowledge of the sensor from an application/user perspective, and also knowledge of the internal architecture for proficiency in FW development. For the FW part, it is considered a plus some experience with ARM M core or RISC-V, and in general any embedded FW development. For the HW design part, it would be desirable previous experience and knowledge of neural network accelerators, and at least basic knowledge about Machine Learning concepts, with the will to explore this field from a research perspective on the hardware side. You will have: Master’s Degree in Electronics design, Physics, Mathematics, or SW Engineering. English speaking Basic FW development capabilities in C (e.g. ARM cores, RISC-V) Basic digital design skills and use of typical EDA tools Our recruitment process: Once you’ve applied, we’ll carefully review your profile.
