Supply Network Planners are responsible for preparing the Supply Plan for specific product group(s) and/or network of Supply Points (Plants) within the IBP process, which aims to satisfy the demand plan for the next 1-15 months (tactical planning). The Supply Plan considers all relevant aspects of Supply including production capacity, raw material availability, optimal formulation, logistics, and warehousing constraints. This role is pivotal to the successful effectuation of IBP within Nutreco to ensure that customer demand can be fulfilled effectively, considering customer service and cost to supply. Within their boundaries of authority, the Supply Network Planner will make tactical decisions to best balance supply and demand and, if necessary, present decisions to the IBP Executive team for final approval. To be successful, they will need to work in a cross-functional team across Procurement, Formulation, Pricing, Finance, and Sales. The Supply Network Planner plays a crucial role as a tactical/strategic planning partner for Demand Planning, acting as the commercial liaison with Production & Material Planner(s) and the network of Supply Points and Plants (Operations). Job Description: JOB CONTEXT Supply Network planning is a key role in the IBP process, as the Supply Network plan delivery will enable operations to meet the tactical and strategic horizon production requirements timely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. The Supply Network Planner delivers an important piece of information for the IBP cycle, ensuring that the Supply Network is properly planned and fulfills the needs of the internal and external customers. The Supply Network Planner role has a tactical planning horizon of 1 to 15 months, while delivering a quarterly/semi-annually strategic plan of 36 months rolling, both in monthly buckets. As this process and role are new to the organization, it presents an exciting challenge for the incumbent to educate the organization on the role of Supply Planning and the benefits it can bring. The incumbent will need to be comfortable dealing with conflict and managing change at different levels of the organization, supported by the Supply Chain Manager, BU/Opco Operations Director/Manager, and Global IBP Team. The level of the role depends on the scope and complexity, based on the number of Manufacturing plants and the size & complexity of the product portfolio. The Supply Network Planner works closely with the Production & Material Planner. Depending on the size of the organization, these planning roles may be combined into one or two roles, merging the responsibilities of Supply Network planning, Production planning, and/or Material Planning. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Supply Network Planning Preparing an accurate Supply Network Plan for specific product group(s) based on a 1-15 months' time horizon to meet the associated demand plan effectively, considering all relevant aspects of supply (capacity, raw material availability, formulation optimization, etc.). Quarterly or semi-annually creating a strategic (36 months) Supply Network Plan to identify potential supply constraints on the strategic horizon. Preparing Supply Network Plan scenarios to determine the best option to maintain supply considering total Supply Chain cost and Customer Service. Establishing strict deadlines with key contributors to ensure timely information for the Supply Review. Preparing content for the monthly Supply Review, including scenarios to minimize the gap between Supply and Demand, highlighting any excess supply for the Executive IBP meeting. Monitoring progress against the plan through frequent contact with Production & Material Planning and the Supply Points / Plant teams, consulting/informing of any necessary adjustments according to priorities, constraints, and customer commitments. Following up on decisions/constraints from the IBP cycle and/or supply points. Acting as the first point of contact for the commercial organization for the tactical and strategic planning horizon. Inventory & Working Capital Management Defining and implementing inventory and replenishment targets and applying inventory segmentation effectively. Managing inventory levels according to management guidelines, replenishing relevant warehouses, and following up on aging, unallocated stock, obsolete & waste while acquiring agreement with Demand, Planning Operations, and Logistics throughout the network. Monitoring Planning (PDCA-cycle) & Analysis Maintaining Supply Network planning master data and systems, monitoring/analyzing trends to enhance the forecast. Identifying sales opportunities and risks and proposing push sales on available capacities and RM. Coordinating activities related to the constraining and allocation process to ensure alignment of Supply Network & supply. Preparing and monitoring planning-related KPIs to identify improvement areas and monitor performance. Keeping up to date with the latest planning theory and concepts to enhance effectiveness. Coordinating with Supply and Commercial teams to determine priorities and corrective actions to prevent OOS and Waste. Continuously seeking opportunities & improvements within the daily work context and taking ownership in implementing solutions. Continuous Improvement & Projects Proposing improvements to the (production) planning process and implementing them. Leading and/or participating in various projects aimed at improving End-2-End planning reliability and processes, collaborating with key customer planning teams. Experience with forecasting and sales & operations planning in the animal feed industry or similar industries such as FMCG. Experience working cross-functionally with other departments to achieve best results. Excellent knowledge and expertise in ERP tools, particularly Microsoft Office (especially MS Excel), with knowledge of Infor M3 and DMP being desirable. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to persuade and maintain constructive relationships with stakeholders. Fair understanding of Manufacturing challenges and performance leverage. Strong numerical capability with a passion for detailed analysis. An inquisitive approach, able to identify risks and opportunities for appropriate follow-up. Fluency in English and an additional language is a plus.
