This large research line focuses on an innovative, multidisciplinary approach to robot design and control, and the development of novel robotic components and technologies for applications in medical, surgical and rehabilitation robotics, exoskeletons and force augmentation, manipulation and dexterous manipulators, telepresence and teleoperation, industrial automation and robotics, active perception and learning, inspection robotics, hyper-redundant robots, robot dynamics and robots for hazardous environments. OUR TEAM THE POSITION The selected candidate will join a translational research project dedicated to the advancement of our Computer-Assisted Laser Microsurgery (CALM) technology towards clinical use. This is a multi-disciplinary project involving engineers, surgeons and close collaboration with one of the World’s leading manufacturers of surgical lasers. The goal of this position is to contribute to the creation of a clinical grade version of our most advanced CALM prototype. Specifically, the selected candidate will be responsible for refining the low-level control algorithms of the device and developing new firmware for integration with control interfaces and other surgical devices. In addition, the selected candidate will have the opportunity to implement high-level controllers for autonomous functionalities, enhanced usability and improved surgical performance.
