Synthomer S.r.l. is located within the Covestro production hub in the industrial area of Filago.
The company produces NBR and SBR type synthetic latexes in aqueous emulsion, used in the production of paper, rugs, carpets, non-woven fabrics, rubber items, adhesive tapes, disposable and reusable gloves.

The Filago site is UNI ISO 9001, UNI ISO 14001, and UNI ISO 45001, and EMAS certified, as well as being WHP accredited.
Purpose of the Job: Assure full safety and functionality of process, plants and utilities. Manage site services related to operation unit.
Main Accountabilities:
1. Monitor the safety, efficiency and functionality of production plants and processes, including energy and utilities by supervision of process control system and periodical visits on field to guarantee full availability of plants in the safe process condition.
2. Investigate any actual or potential process safety event to guarantee full understanding of the unwanted events and provide adequate RCA, identifying corrective actions to reduce the number of critical events along the time into a continuous improvement process. Define and monitor appropriate process KPIs.
3. Manage, record and monitor energy consumption (electricity, nitrogen, water, natural gas) to verify if all significant energetic uses (SEU) are aligned to the actual production load, Identify any relevant deviation and suggest appropriate corrective actions. Define and monitor appropriate EnPIs. Drive the site to the Energy management system certification.
4. Support production and engineering team in pre and post maintenance activities (e.g. cleanings, set up, process fine tuning) to guarantee safety work condition and to identify potential cross interferences with production activity, taking the right preventive actions. Assume the role of PTWs issuer for the activities assigned.
5. Manage and activate contractors to keep reliable all plant services (fire extinguisher, fire hydrant, fire proof doors, emergency showers, PPE boxes, portable gas detector) according to legislation schedule to guarantee that all occupational safety guards are in efficient shape.
6. Promote and suggest plant and process changes to sustain the production cost reduction (particularly for energy consumption) and the process improvement. Promote and manage new projects in the area of competence and responsibility, with the support of engineering department.
7. Collaborate with Technical Plant Manager to introduce new processes and grades, especially for safety process assessment, process design review and impact on plant services and energy consumption.
8. Collaborate with production and maintenance team for plants cleaning in relation to contractors management and cross interference assessment. Raise maintenance request when necessary.
9. Manage production waste in compliance with all legal requirements and Company procedure. Manage the service warehouse in relation to production tools and consumption materials to guarantee full availability of them. Ask for purchase requisition when necessary.
10. Provide appropriate training and coaching to workers in relation to process, plants and utilities topics, during the quarterly training session or following process deviation as one of the corrective action.
11. Co-work in process safety assessments, risk assessment, Hazop and PHA, taking part of the assessment team. Support actively the production team in case of emergency or process safety events, also taking part of the emergency team and the duty on all call service.
12. Ensure accomplishment of all business activities in the area of responsibility in line with relevant SHE-regulations to achieve SHE-compliance in accordance with internal, contractual and legal regulations.

Requirements & Knowledge and skills
Education: a chemistry background or degree is preferred, but not required.
Minimum 2 years in a similar role.
Fluent Italian at least C1 level.
Fluent English at least B1 level.
Solid working knowledge MS Office applications such as Excel, Word and Outlook.

Must be able to work with people having different personalities and different job functions. Have a flexible and adaptable attitude.
ISO50001, HAZOP, RCA, FTA, SAP, Project Management knowledge would be ideal.
