Job Description
Watershed Volunteer Program Assistant provides administrative and technical support to day-to-day operations of the Watershed Volunteer Program with the Watershed Volunteer Coordinator. The Watershed Program Assistant is responsible for database management and reporting, monitoring and restoration project design, event coordination, volunteer recruitment and recognition, and communication with volunteers. This position also provides assistance to other Natural Resources Division monitoring and restoration projects as needed.
Essential Functions:
1. Regular and predictable attendance is expected and required. All Cleveland Metroparks employees must be prepared to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as required.
2. Assists in the daily coordination or administrative related duties of the Watershed Volunteer Program.
3. Identifies and maintains recruitment efforts.
4. Tracks and process volunteer requests and applications.
5. Assists with marketing events and programs.
6. Maintains ongoing and quarterly program evaluation and reporting.
7. Responds to routine inquiries from volunteers and public.
8. Assists with tracking, scheduling and preparation of materials for volunteer trainings, projects and presentations.
9. Supports independent volunteer projects with training, logistics, etc.
10. Tracks volunteer progress towards Watershed Steward certification and distributes recognition items promptly.
11. Performs data entry and material distribution duties on a daily basis.
12. Hosts learning opportunities, monitoring events, and restoration activities. Travels to these opportunities to various locations throughout the park district, including remote locations.
13. Represents Watershed Volunteer program at community events.
14. Writes e-newsletter and communications to volunteers and partners
15. Coordinates with Volunteer Services as necessary.
16. Keeps direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
17. Carries out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain a safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public. Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
18. Performs related duties as assigned or apparent.
