This includes developing and implementing governance frameworks for allergen management and toxicology, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring the safety of food products through effective monitoring and control measures. The individual ensures that the organization adheres to regulatory standards, provides guidance on allergen and toxicological safety, and drives continuous improvement in product safety across all functions. Additionally, the role involves managing internal audits, delivering training, and overseeing incident management to safeguard consumer health and maintain the company's commitment to food safety.Key AccountabilitiesOversee the implementation and adherence to allergen management systems across the organization, ensuring that proper control measures are in place at every stage of the production process (from sourcing raw materials to distribution).Ensure allergen testing protocols are being followed and allergen cross-contamination risks are properly controlled.Manage and update allergen labeling guidelines, ensuring that all products are accurately labeled to protect consumers with allergies.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that allergens and emerging risks are considered in product development and manufacturing processes.Engage with external scientific and regulatory bodies, suppliers, and industry associations to stay updated on the latest allergen management, regulation and trends.Manage relationships with external laboratories or consultants for allergen testing and toxicological assessments.Oversee the management of allergen or toxicity-related incidents, such as consumer complaints, product recalls, or regulatory investigations.Lead the development of corrective and preventive actions, ensuring that the organization responds effectively to food safety incidents.Ensure that all products comply with local and international food safety regulations related to allergens.Conduct risk assessments for allergens and other relevant emerging risks.Develop and implement company-wide policies and procedures for allergen control and toxicological safety in alignment with regulatory requirements.Lead toxicological assessments for emerging food safety risks in finished products.Review scientific data and studies to identify potential risks related to new ingredients or food production processes.Develop and deliver training programs for internal teams, including RD, production, quality control, on allergen management, food safety regulations, and toxicological assessments.Promote awareness of allergen and toxicology issues throughout the organization, emphasizing the importance of compliance and consumer safety.RequirementsAt least 3 years’ experience in QFS.Bachelor Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or Food Engineering or Related Fields.Experience in providing direction to technical teams across business units.Flexibility.Ability to encourage others to share ideas and information is also important and facilitate highly collaborative discussions that produce widely accepted decisions.Out of the box and strategic thinking with very good communication skills, to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Fluent Italian and English, spoken and written.At Barilla, we are committed to creating an inclusive and equitable workplace where diversity in all its forms is valued and embraced.
