Description
Core purpose: For the Product Families within the perimeter of the LoB Rail Control’s product portfolio, execute the project portfolio management, the definition of product roadmapping and the implementation of the product & solution portfolio strategy. The Senior Product Solution Manager has a general understanding of the Rail Control market dynamics, key customers and competitive arena, with a significant business awareness concerning Europe and North America regions. In particular, the Rail Control systems and components offering in the US as the domestic market. Knowledge of the raising standards, sector “game-changers” and the new potential solutions introduction, an open mindset, a critical and analytical attitude in proposing the “best” product strategy to pursue.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
1. Analysis of the market needs, identification of the product/solution gaps & fits for each market and the translation into detailed product/solution requirements in terms of:
1. Functional requirements
2. Performance requirements
3. Time to market (focus on implementation schedule)
2. Define the product/platform, solution and technology roadmaps and Portfolio guidelines.
3. Initialization and Monitoring of R&D&I Budget/Plan up to whole life, including investments approval process (initiatives/projects, time schedule and budgets). Through the participation (and active collaboration) of progress meetings organized by Rail Control’s technical functions.
4. Support Market & Portfolio Management unit in maintaining the Standard Products and Applications Portfolio Database, providing updated information on time.
5. Develop competitor benchmarking or analysis aimed at identifying the pros/cons of existing and new technologies/products/platforms/solutions in the Rail Control portfolio.
6. Execute the project portfolio management of the R&D new strategic initiatives. Acting as the project manager ensures:
1. The definition and development of a product/platform/solution roadmap.
2. Activity and resource planning.
3. Cost estimating and developing the budget.
4. Internal customer satisfaction.
5. Analysis and management of project risk.
6. Collaboration with R&D Cost Controlling.
7. Monitoring progress, organizing the Product Portfolio QPRs.
7. Develop business cases, defining the main options, requirements and preparing cost vs. benefits analysis, taking into account the inputs from global and local Sales, Procurement, Bidding and Technical Functions.
8. Ensure support to technical due diligence of product portfolio in potential M&As.
9. Support the Bidding Team, during each bidding stage, in identifying the most competitive Standard Technical Solution in compliance with Portfolio Guidelines (time, costs, functional and performance requirements).
Skills & Experience:
As Senior Product Solution Manager, the ideal candidate:
1. Has a spread knowledge and understanding of the industry standards, such as ETCS/ERTMS, CBTC and PTC.
2. Proven experience in design, development and/or delivery of Rail Control systems.
3. Deep knowledge of multiple products in the Rail Control portfolio (incl. Supervisor systems and components) and a wide range of ICT systems for the railway's solutions.
Moreover, the ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Equivalent Technical background.
2. Minimum of 6 Years working experience.
3. Knowledge of Solutions and Products in the company Portfolio, as well as the competitive arena.
4. Knowledge of Life Cycle costing of products.
5. Financial & Economics skills.
6. Project Management skills.
7. Decision-making and communication skills.
8. Fluent in English (written and spoken).
