Job Title: CYS Supervisory Program Specialist
Location: Vicenza, Italy
Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CYS Supervisory Program Specialist to oversee and manage our Child and Youth Services programs in various facilities across the CYS program. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in supervising direct care staff, implementing structured child and youth program curricula, and managing classroom settings.
Responsibilities:
* Serves as a CYS Supervisory Program Specialist with responsibility for supervising CYS direct care staff (minimum of 8 ratios of children in a Child Development Center (Ages 0-5) or 6 ratios of children/youth in a School-Age Program or Youth).
* Works closely with the staff to provide leadership, model appropriate teacher/child interactions, maintain environments, and manage classrooms to include lesson plans/program plans, and child assessments.
* Assists with recruitment and selection of caregiving staff utilizing Army CYS Standard Position Descriptions.
* Supervises and evaluates employee performance based on established performance standards.
* Ensures children/youth are appropriately supervised at all times.
* May work in additional CYS facilities for the purposes of providing management oversight and direction for evening or weekend openings.
Requirements:
* Conditions of Employment Qualifications:
* Successful completion of a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study (at least 24 semester hours) in the fields appropriate to the position consistent with: For positions in Child Development Facilities: The education must have been in child development, early childhood education, home economics (early childhood emphasis), elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as directly related behavioral science.
* For positions in Youth Facilities: The education must have been in youth development, youth administration, education, home economics, physical education, elementary education, special education or other fields appropriate to the position to be filled such as directly related behavioral science.
* For positions in School-Age facilities, the education must have been in any of the fields above.
* A combination of education and experience - courses equivalent to a major in a subject matter field (24 semester hours) appropriate to the position (see above), plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the four-year course of study described above.
* In addition to meeting one of the requirements above (QUAL 1 or QUAL 2), candidate must also possess all of the following:
* Experience supervising or leading caregivers within child/youth facility-based programs.
* Experience managing a classroom setting within child and youth programs.
* Experience implementing and overseeing a structured child and youth program curriculum.
* Demonstrated verbal communication skills gained through conducting training, delivering presentations, conducting meetings with parents and/or staff, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Have at least 1 year of work experience with Child & Youth Services.
* Have experience working within a DoD School-Age Care (SAC) program with children in grades 1-5.
