Posting Details Posting Number: 2020693F Position Title: Adjunct Faculty - Villanova Interdisciplinary Immigration Studies Training for Advocates Position Type: Faculty Location: Villanova, PA Recruitment Type: Internal/External Applicants Work Schedule: part-time/12-months Department: 576-Dean, Professional Studies Position Summary: The College of Professional Studies invites qualified individuals to apply for an Adjunct Faculty position to teach in the VIISTA Program (Villanova Interdisciplinary Immigration Studies Training for Advocates), a 100% online interdisciplinary educational program that trains students to become immigrant advocates ready to serve migrants and refugees. The Program is comprised of three modules. Module 1 focuses on how to successfully work with immigrants and is the foundation for the program. Modules 2 and 3 focus on immigration law and practice and are designed to train people to become Department of Justice (DOJ) partially accredited representatives (Module 2), or fully accredited representatives (Module 3). We are seeking instructors for all three modules. Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian Order. Duties and Responsibilities: Conducting in a professional manner all assigned classes per guidance and policies from the University and College of Professional Studies. Preparing and submitting accurate and precise student grades and other assigned documents when due. Regularly assessing formative and summative student work product, assignments, and activities including providing written feedback on Discussion Boards, audio, and video recordings. Actively engaging in learning community so that the Instructor’s presence is regularly felt by the students. Building a strong online learning community. Answering student questions and providing guidance, where appropriate. Attendance at college-wide meetings and events (virtual or in-person as appropriate). Supporting and following college policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications: Law degree, including experience in immigration law practice. Committed to excellence in teaching. Preferred Qualifications: Specific knowledge of Blackboard, Canvas, and other Instructional Design Tools as well as Web Conferencing Tools. Strong understanding of adult learning principles and theories. Experience teaching online, particularly in a higher education setting is recommended.
