The Principal Engineer (Cruise Ships) is responsible for reviewing drawings of cruise ships during and after construction for compliance with the applicable class and regulatory requirements What You Will Do: Acts as a specialist for ABS in applying rules, regulations, requirements, concepts, principles, and processes to new and existing cruise ships Maintains an active awareness of new methods and developments affecting the technical scope of cruise ships and recommends changes in the plan review processes as warranted by such developments. Recommends new approaches to problems encountered and changes methods, procedures, or design where necessary. Plans, schedules, coordinates, and executes various phases of engineering work and monitoring the quality of service on work performed. Monitors work and projects performed by other engineers to ensure maintenance of quality, content, consistency, and continuity of work performed. What You Will Need: Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or other related discipline. At least six (6) of experience in the marine industry with exposure to cruise ships at a Class Society or Designer. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Detailed knowledge and experience about classification and regulatory requirements associated with: Structural fire protection Active fire protection Lifesaving appliances Means of escape Preferably to have knowledge of evacuation modeling.
