This position also requires international travel to our global CDMO sites, customers, and conferences. As the Head of CDMO Operations, you will be at the forefront of our Global Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) division, a key pillar driving our standalone journey and strategic growth. You will build the operational strategy for CDMO business, providing a high-quality, flexible, and competitive platform for contract development and manufacturing projects. Responsibilities include supporting tech transfer, managing projects from RFI/RFP to product launch, ensuring timely delivery, designing tools and processes, coordinating between departments, monitoring progress and deliverables, and collaborating with experts and customers. How You’ll Spend Your Day Design and establish tools and organizational processes to support all needed activities and deliverables in the CDMO team. Drive mindset transition from product-oriented to service-oriented. Engage all operation functions to take active part and support the transition process. Enhance cross-company collaboration and improve organizational processes and routines. Establish strong and collaborative relationships with different interfaces across the network (e.g., RD, Commercial, production, finance, procurement, and QA), working in alignment and supporting TAPI strategy. Support evaluation of new CDMO opportunities (RFI/RFP) - facilitate complex evaluations of new opportunities at manufacturing sites, involving enhanced capacity, new technology, and capabilities. Work in collaboration with all stakeholders, considering aspects such as financial, compliance, and regulatory. Support the CDMO team to optimize the site selection as well as operational batch strategy to provide a fit-for-purpose solution to customer needs during the RFQ and project execution phases. Define KPIs, monitor and assure meeting targets. Create and lead Ops strategy to support project milestones in alignment with customer needs. Assure RFT and adherence to plan. Work in close collaboration with production sites and global functions to have a continuous improvement plan in alignment with customer strategy to assure robust manufacturing processes, meeting project milestones and KPIs. Provide professional technical support, challenge assumptions, and come up with alternative solutions. Work in collaboration with SMEs from different fields. Support and enhance building capabilities across TAPI networks, knowledge sharing, training, and coaching on technical, managerial, and mindset aspects concerning providing CDMO services and interactions with customers from the operation side. Create and lead risks and gaps management methodology in operation. Proactive and creative approach to have optimized solutions. Create and execute mitigation plans to be able to meet project targets. Establish operational costing methodology to demonstrate the manufacturing costs and any related activities supporting customer needs during the RFQ process. Provide detailed cost estimates for all operational activities with key assumptions. Communication with customers, commercial, and operation to understand customer needs and targets and come up with proposed operational plans. Act as Operational subject matter expert in customer meetings to help the selling process by providing knowledge of the global network and offering solutions to customers’ needs. Create and manage databases to have a full view and governance of technical capabilities in the network. Support commercial with needed data for marketing requirements. Required Education And Experience Who are you & what will you bring Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related discipline required (Master’s preferred). MBA is advantageous. 10 years with proven history in chemical and pharmaceutical industry in companies providing CDMO/CMO services for Drug substance (API). Experience in drug development in mid/large pharma is a plus. Strong knowledge and experience working in operations under cGMP for both early clinical phase as well as commercial development. Previous experience in process development and process industrialization, process engineering, and scale-up in manufacturing environment. Experience working cross-functionally in CDMO projects for both project costing and project execution. Required Skills Strong leadership skills, ability to lead and governance.
