Posting Details Posting Number: 20254262S Position Title: 1st Class HVAC Technician- Cabrini Campus Position Type: Staff Location: Villanova, PA Recruitment Type: Internal/External Applicants Work Schedule: full-time/12-months Avg Hours Week Department: 826 - Cabrini HVAC Position Summary Under minimum supervision, operates, maintains, and troubleshoots building Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVACR) systems and equipment in order to provide a comfortable and safe environment in all University facilities including classrooms, laboratories, offices, student residences, and refrigerators and freezers in accordance with applicable standards of the trade and regulatory agencies. Duties and Responsibilities Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs building HVACR equipment consistent with manufacturer’s guidelines. Installs HVACR units, including electronic, electrical, and mechanical components and connections. Installs HVACR ductwork including flexible tubing and sheet metal construction. Troubleshoots and repairs HVACR units including electronic, electrical, and mechanical components. Installs, maintains, and repairs computerized electronic, pneumatic, and direct digital control (DDC) devices related to HVACR control. Maintains and makes operating repairs on electrical equipment and appliances, refrigerators/freezers, and other refrigeration equipment. Operates and keeps in good working order a variety of equipment including hand tools and diagnostic meters. Conserves, installs, recycles, and reclaims refrigerants. Reads and interprets complex blueprints, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Performs brazing, silver and lead soldering, pipefitting, welding, and fabrication as required. Coordinates repairs with other trades affected by HVAC operations. Performs other duties as assigned within the normal scope of the department’s responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications HS diploma or equivalent and current documentation indicating successful completion of formal training classes or programs. Possess EPA Universal/R410A license. Currently classified and working as HVAC Technician 2nd Class. A minimum of five years of service in the trade at Villanova University. Must possess and maintain personal hand tools required for the trade. Must have the ability to research information from various sources to facilitate repairs. Must have the ability to recover, recycle, and reclaim refrigerants adhering to industry standards. Must have the ability to perform preventative maintenance on all campus HVAC/R equipment. Must have the ability to troubleshoot and repair all associated components of HVAC/R systems. Must have the ability to follow both verbal and written directions in English. Must have the physical ability to climb ladders, bend, reach, crawl, and lift up to 60 lbs. Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications Must have the physical ability to climb ladders, to bend, reach, crawl, and lift up to 60 lbs; the ability to work in enclosed spaces. Core hours are from 7:30 until 4:00. Coming in earlier or staying later would be expected if emergency repairs are required.
