We are looking for an R&D Thermal Engineer to be part of our R&D Department in San Giovanni Valdarno.
Your Responsibilities
1. Lead the thermal design of new projects from concept to final design.
2. Validate the thermal design of products through numerical simulations and experiments, based on internal procedures and project KPIs.
3. Collaborate with the mechanical and software departments to meet project needs.
4. Work with testing engineers to define thermal test layouts, testing procedures, and select sensor types.
5. Engage with suppliers to find optimal thermal solutions and create prototypes for production.
6. Research innovative thermal management solutions.
Your Background
1. Master’s degree in physics, mechanical, energy engineering, or equivalent, with solid knowledge in fluid mechanics and heat transfer phenomena.
2. 3-5 years of experience in a medium-high range company focused on design and testing as a Thermal Engineer or equivalent.
3. Strong experience in numerical modeling, design, and testing of liquid-to-air heat exchangers and cooling of power electronic devices (air cooling, liquid cooling, multiphase cooling is a plus).
4. Experience in analyzing and processing experimental data for correlation development and model validation.
5. Advanced user of CFD/CFX simulation tools applied to heat transfer problems (ANSYS CFD and SolidWorks Flow Simulation preferred).
6. Proficient in 3D CAD systems, particularly SolidWorks.
7. Experience in fan acoustic noise measurements and numerical simulations through FEM software is a plus.
8. Comfortable in the lab, collaborating with testing engineers for mockup design and thermal test setup for product validation.
9. Passionate, flexible, and creative problem solver, comfortable in a start-up mindset within a global company.
10. Fluent in English, written and spoken.
