We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Hotel Resident Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our small boutique hotel located in Zanzibar. With over 15 years of experience in hospitality, AHG Hotel & Resort offers customized management solutions to maximize the potential of each property belonging to the brand. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Guest Experience & Relations: Lead and manage the guest experience to ensure exceptional service standards. Greet, meet, and farewell guests ensuring their needs are anticipated and met with the utmost professionalism. Handle guest complaints and feedback tactfully, ensuring satisfaction and alignment with the hotel's high standards. Operational Management: Oversee the daily operations of the hotel. Ensure smooth functioning of all departments by coordinating and supervising the staff, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed. Supervise the scheduling and performance of housekeeping, maintenance, and other staff. Inspect all departments for cleanliness, ambience, service readiness, staff grooming & hospitality culture. Ensure clear communication across all departments and with external stakeholders. Lead and develop a dynamic team, providing ongoing training and development to maintain high service standards. Manage all employee-related activities, including recruitment, performance evaluations, and disciplinary matters. Financial & Sustainability Management: Implement processes and systems to control costs, maximize revenue, and ensure profitability. Oversee the sustainability initiatives, ensuring the hotel meets all safety and hygiene standards. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar position (preferably in tropical locations). Strong knowledge of Front Office, Concierge, F&B, Housekeeping, and Laundry operations. Proven experience in managing teams and driving operational excellence. Hospitality degree or equivalent, with a thorough understanding of luxury service techniques and trends. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and hospitality management software. Fluent in English; knowledge of an additional language/s is a plus. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and non-verbal). Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently. Flexibility to work weekends and adapt to changing schedules.
