This individual collaborates closely with the Business Manager and Company Manager, maintaining cross-organizational relationships as well as ongoing affiliations with area professional and academic theatres to accomplish production goals.Duties and Responsibilities:Directly oversee VTD production department; author, direct, and execute VTD’s operational and strategic production plan; implement VTD’s artistic and pedagogical vision and direction for productions and studio work.Ensure efficient, professional, and safe operations of VTD productions; calendar/maintain production dates; budget, forecast, and administer production budgets; coordinate VTD booking requests for Mullen Center rehearsal and performance spaces; negotiate overhire contracts.Supervise directly: Technical Director, Costume Shop Manager, Production Designers, Stage Management Consultant, Production Consultants, Props Coordinator/Artisan, Graduate Scholar(s) assisting Production.Supervise indirectly: Directors, Assistant Technical Director, Cutter/Draper, Scenic Charge, Production Build Staff, Production Technicians, Music Director (and Musicians).Facilitate production design meetings and deadline adherence; resolve director and running crew challenges/conflicts.Supervise technical rehearsals, previews, and openings; orient all cast/production personnel at first rehearsals.Assist as necessary and as assigned to support VUTO events in coordination with the Company Manager.Author/Assist in the writing and revising of theatre documents (e.g., VTD production handbooks, guest artist guidelines, designer/over-hire contracts, etc.)Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Formal Education:Bachelor’s degree required.Job Specific Knowledge:Theatrical production practices and procedures including relevant software and technical knowledge.Minimum Work Experience:5+ years professional theatre production experience.Ongoing affiliations with area professional theatres are beneficial to VTD.Must ensure efficient, professional, and safe operations of VTD productions; calendar/maintain production dates; budget, forecast, and administer production budgets.Must be an excellent communicator with an ability to instruct and supervise creative personnel and production staff members.M/S Office Suite, Standard Theatrical Scenery, Costume, Light, and Sound Equipment Practices.Preferred Qualifications:Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours:Special Message to Applicants:Posting Date: 04/01/2025Closing Date (11:59pm ET):Salary Posting Information:Commensurate with experienceSalary Band: 16Job Classification: exemptReferences Needed:Minimum Number of References Needed: 3Maximum Number of References Needed: 3Documents needed to complete your application:Required Documents:Cover Letter / Letter of InterestResume / Curriculum VitaeOptional Documents:
