Job Description Essential Job Functions: Prepare engineering design drawings, layouts, assembly drawers, etc. utilizing SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Assist with project specification and cost estimates. Translate general design objectives into specification plans, dimensions, cut-sheets, and material lists as necessary. Assist in all aspects of machine fabrication to include, but not limited to, MIG welding, machining of parts on a mill or lathe, operating a band saw, torch, or plasma cutter. Dismantle defective equipment and install new or repaired parts. Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill press, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, and tools. Participate in daily production team meetings. Use MIG (wire) welding equipment in a safe and skilled manner. Read a tape measure. Operate a forklift and maintain a forklift license. Discuss machine operation variations with managers or maintenance team members to diagnose problems or machine repair. Observe all safety policies and procedures at all times. Maintain clean and organized workstation; complete 5S checklists. Work individually or with team members as assigned, maintaining a positive work environment. Other duties as assigned. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and ability to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to use a computer to perform data entry and other basic computer functions. Proficient in AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Ability to travel to other VT facilities as needed. Ability to work 8-12 hours per day, 5-6 days per week. Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and vendors. Physical Requirements: Tolerance for sitting long periods of time. Possess finger dexterity to write, type, and use a calculator. Maintain adequate vision to view small print and computer terminal. Ability to speak and hear, walk throughout facilities with occasional moderate lifting (50 pounds), stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms required. Ability to travel between multiple facilities as required to perform core job duties. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Ability to climb up or down ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces. Ability to bend body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
