Job Description
A TRS Technician is responsible for safely and professionally operating casing running equipment at various rig/field sites, and providing maintenance and repair to the company’s equipment to keep it in working condition and in compliance with manufacturer’s and company’s quality standards.
Essential Functions
1. Have a working knowledge of the basics and functionality of Tubular Running Service (TRS) Manual Handling Equipment, Power Equipment, Bucking Units and Thread Monitoring Systems as it applies to the assigned business segment.
2. Handle and operate casing running equipment, including: casing running tools, power tongs, elevators, power slips, control panels, and hydraulic power units.
3. Work with hand tools and operate hydraulically activated equipment.
4. Rig up, run, and rig down various components on a drilling rig.
5. Communicate clearly and professionally with all rig, customer, and Parker Wellbore personnel.
6. Act as trainer for Service Technicians I.
7. Prepare delivery tickets, job reports, time-sheets, and other administrative forms.
8. Independently test, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot company equipment and tools.
9. Maintain a safe working environment by wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), checking the tools and equipment, keeping the work area neat, organized and free of hazards, and following Parker Wellbore Life Saving Rules, as well as location-specific and customer QHSSE Policies and Procedures.
10. Accountable for safe operation of all Parker Wellbore equipment.
11. Ensuring the highest standard of workmanship produced is in accordance with the company expectations and as per customer, regulatory standards and specification.
12. Reporting hazards on location, with equipment and other workplace, or shortcomings in the existing controls, to a superior without delay.
13. Make recommendations for the safe execution of the job and report any unsafe acts, near misses, or incidents.
14. Attend all customer and Parker Wellbore QHSSE meetings, safety training, equipment training, and medical checks as required.
15. Obtain required authorization and/or training before undertaking any task.
16. Support continual improvement of the integrated management system by expressing better and safer ways to perform tasks and improve policies and procedures.
17. When on stand-by, stay in contact with the Operations Supervisor and coordinate further actions.
18. Other tasks requested by the TRS Lead or Field Service Supervisor.
Additional Functions
• Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of casing and tubular running equipment and services. • Ably perform equipment risk analysis and hazard identification in compliance with the manufacturer’s specifications detailed in the equipment manuals. • Operate torque-turn computers, power and handling equipment, as well as perform stabbing duties in compliance with ITS Tubular Running Service’s and manufacturer’s standard operating procedure. • Operate and maintain torque-turn computers, power tongs and handling equipment during all bucking jobs onshore or on any other location as directed, in accordance with approved industry standards, ITS safety and quality procedures, and local legislation to meet the client’s work requirements. • Assembly and disassembly of TRS equipment, and performing effective preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and maintenance on all TRS torque-turn computers, power and handling equipment either at the ITS facility or at the client’s work site within a specified time period to deliver equipment that performs error free while on jobs. • Troubleshoot all stabber related issues for effective and timely resolution while maintaining the integrity of the client’s well, complying with the client’s time requirements and satisfying ITS quality requirements. • Troubleshoot all power tong related issues for effective and timely resolution to ensure that tubulars are made up correctly and that no rejection of tubulars occurs as a result of Operator negligence or equipment malfunction. • Troubleshoot all torque-turn system related issues for effective and timely resolution to ensure that tubulars are made up correctly and that no rejection of tubulars occurs as a result of Operator negligence or equipment malfunction. • Ensure all torque-turn computers, power tongs, power units and handling equipment are operational and tested, and these results recorded, filed, and signed off in accordance with ITS Tubular Running Service procedures and ITS quality requirements. • Ensure all relevant accessories required for torque-turn computers, power tongs and handling equipment are in good working condition and tagged appropriately prior to load-out in accordance with ITS quality requirements. • Ensure all necessary TRS torque-turn computers, handling equipment and tools are operational, tested, in good appearance and tagged appropriately prior to load-out. • Assist in the preparation and load-out of all TRS equipment required for the effective and efficient execution of the job, and satisfying all ITS quality requirements for this process. • Perform and ensure the cleaning and storage of hoses and other TRS equipment and accessories, and housekeeping at the ITS facility and during TRS jobs while on the job-site. • Ensure maintenance reports on the torque-turn computers, power tongs, power units and handling equipment are prepared, completed and delivered to the Maintenance Supervisor or to the appropriate person, designated for this job, for his attention and remedial work. • Assist with training of current and new TRS personnel to ensure that employees are competent to perform the tasks they are assigned. • Recommend changes to TRS forms, procedures and processes to ensure that new or updated methods for a specific task is captured and recorded for future use. • Assist in the preparation of service tickets, equipment reports, job reports and all other documentation required by management, and ensure that the documentation is submitted within an acceptable / specified time frame. • Required to work on a 24 hour on-call basis. • Additional duties may be required either on a permanent or temporary basis within your area of competence to fulfill the company’s needs.

1. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
2. Qualifications in Mechanical or Electronic Applications or past experience in rig operations.
3. Mechanical aptitude and a working knowledge of hydraulic and mechanical/electronic systems.
4. 3-4 years of relevant experience with mechanical, electronic, hydraulic equipment or similar experience in rig operations.
5. Working knowledge of tubular handling equipment, including: casing running tools, power tongs, elevators, power slips, control panels, and hydraulic power units.
6. Must possess the ability to work with hand tools and operate hydraulically activated equipment.
7. Must possess the ability to rig up, run, and rig down various components on a drilling rig.
8. Fast learner, results oriented, strong interpersonal skills, works cooperatively with others and independently as directed by supervisor.
9. Good customer service skills.

Additional Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
The TRS Service Technician II (Technical Level) should have passes in three Ordinary Level GCSE Grade or Equivalent subjects, Certification in Hydraulic / Pneumatic principles. This minimum level may be reduced where extensive experience can be demonstrated. Knowledge: In-depth knowledge in threaded connections, In-depth knowledge on the oil rig activities with respect to casing running, In-depth knowledge in hydraulics / mechanics.
