Instrument Engineer

We are looking for an Instrument Engineer to join an international team supporting ground segment engineering activities for a long-term project in the space sector.
Role and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will support the Data Quality Manager, focusing on Thermal Infrared Instrument Performance, Operational Processors, and Calibration. The role will cover phases C/D to E1, with potential involvement in phase E2 .
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting data quality management and operational processor monitoring.
* Reviewing Level 1 and Level 2 processor performance and documentation.
* Defining cross-verification tests and analyzing results for prototype and operational processors.
* Integrating operational processors into the Processing Facility/Collaborative Platform.
* Supporting ground segment validation activities and reviewing technical documentation.
* Participating in coordination meetings and mission advisory groups.
* Assisting with pre-launch preparations, testing, and commissioning phase activities.
Required Skills and Experience:
* Master’s degree or equivalent in Space Engineering, Remote Sensing, or Earth Observation .
* Experience with Thermal Infrared Instruments .
* Knowledge of instrument and data monitoring, data quality control, and calibration.
* Experience in developing or reviewing Algorithm Theoretical Basis Documents (ATBD).
* Background in operational processor development.
* Fluent in English (written and spoken).
* Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team.
Preferred Skills:
* Familiarity with ESA Earth Explorers missions and related PDGS processes.
* Experience in Earth Observation applications.
* Programming skills for tool development related to testing and validation.
* Knowledge of containerization technologies and virtual environments .
* Understanding of ECSS standards and configuration control management.
* Knowledge of SAR and/or Hyperspectral instruments.
