Field Service Engineer - Valves and Actuators
Our client is a multi-national company engaged in the engineering, manufacturing, and servicing of advanced technology fluid handling and control equipment in a variety of markets worldwide. The products of the company include pumps, valves, mechanical seals, and related services.
Your new role
* Coordinate and attend troubleshooting and repairs of all valve-actuator-positioner products for customers in industries such as oil and gas, chemical, power, nuclear, coal, mining, and water/wastewater.
* Make direct, in-person service calls in response to customer requests.
* Assess mechanical, instrument, and electric-related problems and take actions aiming at resolution.
* Oversee the full cycle of repair: disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, and assembly.
* Ensure that equipment is installed successfully and on schedule.
* Check equipment prior to start-up and assess start-up performance.
* Work side-by-side with customer personnel and lead work crews as required.
* Train customers in the proper procedures for operating and maintaining equipment.
* Identify field service sales opportunities for sales to follow up, quote, and present to the customer.
* Collaborate effectively with supporting organizations, including repair centers and commercial organization.
* Maintain organized, accurate, timely records, including daily reports, jobs quoted, jobs performed, and time and materials charged using designated systems and processes.
* Perform inspections and testing on customer site, workshop, or third-party repair facility.
* Perform start-up troubleshooting on site or via online support.
* Inspect and report on damaged equipment on site.
* Communicate and support root cause analysis within FLS and the customer.
* Complete and submit the final report prior to leaving the job site.
What you'll need to succeed
* Technical High School or similar.
* 3-5 years of experience in assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of valve-actuator-positioner product line.
* Proficient in all factory testing requirements for valves, actuators, and positioners, including testing software and troubleshooting of digital products.
* Autonomous, with extensive travel, both domestic and international.
* Excellent documentation skills regarding service reports and other documentation utilizing AMP.
* Able to work well without supervision and interface well with customers, always presenting a positive perception of the company.
* Independently organize travel, rental car, flight, hotel, and related site access/permits.
