Primary Function:
Iveco performance and virtual validation department is looking for a Handling & Braking Performance Engineer to own the complete Handling and Braking performance development of current and future production of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV).
The successful candidate will have a record of excellence and a thorough working knowledge of damper systems, suspension components, steering systems tuning and brake. He\ She uses computer-aided design, simulations, test equipment and other tools to create, test and improve braking systems. She\ He also needs to ensure that the systems comply with industry standards and regulations.
Key objectives will be to own the Handling & Braking performance leading the execution of the VVP (virtual validation plan) and DVP (design validation plan) with proper simulations of vehicle critical maneuvers on road (coming from experimental acquisition, or Standard), developing of handling and braking performance and steering characteristics for new light commercial vehicles line-up.
The Handling & Braking Performance Engineer will report to the Performance and Virtual Validation Dept Responsible.
Responsibilities:
- Performance target definition for components and systems of new vehicle projects
- Subjective evaluation and benchmarking of ride comfort and (limit) handling dynamics
- Subjective and objective evaluation of ride comfort and (limit) handling dynamics for Iveco light commercial vehicles (LCV)
- Tuning of damper systems, suspension components and steering systems
- Developing and testing braking systems for vehicles to ensure safety and performance.
- Create, manage, and successfully execute the overall development plan.
- Development and tuning of suspension components, damper systems and kinematics
- Benchmarking, performance evaluation and target definition for components and systems of new light commercial vehicles
- Identification of latest market and technology trends
- Updating of test procedures and assessment schemes
- Scouting and implementation of latest development tools
- Support the establishment of K & C targets for suspension systems
- Support design engineering to define hard points for suspension systems and steering systems.
- Develop full vehicle model with representative component masses and inertias.
- Complete ride, handling, steering, and braking tests on ADAMS and study the effects of kinematics and compliance under various load conditions.
- Supervise, develop (when needed) and maintain ADAMS Driveline models for dynamic maneuvers.
- Investigate vehicle dynamics issues arising during development using simulation models.
- Suggest improvements and use measured vehicle data to update models
