RINA is currently recruiting for a Floaters Engineer to join its office in Genova, Italy within the Plant Engineering Division.
Mission
The Floater Engineer is responsible for the execution of a variety of technical engineering activities related to design, verification and third party verification of vessels, floating structures, floating terminals, either existing, marine operations as well as being in charge of executing the other consultancy activities for such assets relevant to the energy sector.
Key Accountabilities
Engineering Studies and Analyses:
- Develop engineering studies and analyses relevant to floaters and relevant interfaces with other disciplines, including both brown or green field.
Design and Engineering Consulting:
- Conduct design and engineering consulting activities at various levels (feasibility studies, concept selection, basic design, FEED, cost estimation) for floating units, mooring system within the energy sector.
Discipline related activities:
- Develop motion, mooring and maneuvering analyses.
Client and Project Team Interface:
- Interface with clients and project teams to understand requirements and provide technical solutions.
- Review client technical documents during the bidding phase.
- Support and prepare technical and commercial proposals.
Technical Documentation and Standards:
- Review client technical documentation and requirements.
- Ensure the adequacy of technical documentation and contribute to updating relevant standards.
Subcontracted Discipline Control:
- Control subcontracted discipline engineering documents.
Documentation and Standards:
- Ensure documentation meets quality and regulatory standards.
- Prepare the design basis for the projects and interface with other applicable disciplines.
Technical Problem Resolution:
- Assist Senior colleagues in solving technical problems arising during projects.
Project Design Changes Implementation:
- Ensure the implementation of project design changes and provide relevant progress information to Senior Engineer and/or Line Manager.
Discipline Analyses and Reports:
- Perform/verify all discipline analyses and calculation reports.
Client/Certifying Body Interaction:
- Verify and act upon remarks from the client/certifying body.
Document Updates:
- Update documents based on comments issued by other disciplines or external stakeholders (clients, yards, third-party reviews, etc.).
Third-Party Management:
- Design review/appraisal with or without independent analysis.
- Subcontractor Oversight: Check engineering activities of third parties/subcontractors.
Technical Papers and Guidelines:
- Cooperate in the preparation of technical papers, rules, and guidelines.
Qualifications
- Relevant experience (1-3 years) in Floaters engineering, including design and analysis.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for Floaters Engineering design and construction.
- Familiarity in using software tools for structural design and consultancy activities relevant to Floaters Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform complex calculations and simulations related to Floaters design.
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with clients, project teams, and subcontractors.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent is preferred.
- Ongoing commitment to professional development and learning.
- Flexibility in mobility abroad for short/medium periods on a project basis.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
