Working environment:
Mass Transit activity represents around 30% of the Gunnebo Entrance Control activity of which ground transportation solutions represent 70%. Project sizes range from 300k€ to 10m€ with an average project in the regions of 3m€. The Mass Transit team manages 30 to 40 pre-bidding projects at any one time requiring ad-hoc support to the Business Development team. Typically, the Ground Transportation Project Team will be working on 5 active bidding processes and 5 active deployments at any one time.
About The Role
The Mass Transit projects department of Gunnebo Entrance Control requires a Project Engineer - Software Integration to support its expansion in the Mass Transit with System Integrators in the Mass Transit environment.
The Project Engineer for Software Integration is responsible for coordinating and managing the integration of eGate firmware with software systems across various product platforms and System Integrator platforms to work seamlessly together. This role requires a deep understanding of both software engineering and project management principles, as well as strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including firmware developers, customer developments, System integrations, quality assurance, and stakeholders. There will also be global travel required for this role dependent on requirements.
What You Will Do
Software Integration:
1. Lead the integration of software systems, ensuring compatibility and performance across different platforms.
2. Develop and maintain integration plans, certifications with partners, schedules, and documentation.
3. Work closely with firmware development teams to define integration strategies, considering system requirements and constraints.
4. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve integration issues to ensure the smooth operation of software systems provided by customers and SI.
Project Coordination:
1. Manage project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure successful software integration within the project scope.
2. Monitor project progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet changing requirements or address challenges.
Technical Expertise:
1. Provide technical guidance on software integration techniques, tools, and best practices.
2. Ensure that integrated systems meet security, performance, and scalability requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
1. Document integration processes, system configurations, and changes for future reference and audits.
2. Prepare regular reports on integration status, challenges, and solutions for stakeholders and management.
3. Maintain detailed records of system architecture, design, and integration decisions.
Stakeholder Communication:
1. Act as the primary point of contact for integration-related queries and issues.
2. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements, provide updates, and manage expectations.
3. Conduct regular meetings with project teams and stakeholders to review integration progress and address concerns.
Quality Assurance:
1. Collaborate with QA teams to ensure that integrated systems undergo rigorous testing to validate their functionality, performance, and reliability.
2. Participate in code reviews, system testing, and validation efforts to ensure high-quality software integration.
3. Build an automated testing tool for all the eGates SW and peripherals.
Who we are looking for:
* Experience in a B to B business model.
* Strong communication skills and adaptability to situations.
* Extensive experience in integration projects for large and complex projects involving integration of Hardware in IT environments.
* Capacity to drive and coordinate multiple internal and external stakeholders.
* Capacity to design optimal solutions taking into account ROI and limitations of each party + risk assessment.
* Capacity to elaborate and structure comprehensive documentation.
* Capacity to present in an analytical way complex hardware integrated systems.
* Highly structured and organized.
* Multi-tasking.
* Previous experience in software integration projects within Mass Transit Environment (Airports, Metro, Intelligent Transportation, Fare Collection...).
* Other speaking languages.
Workplace:
Gunnebo Entrance Control S.p.A., Lavis, Italy. Requires some travel (average: once every quarter, 3-5 days trip).

This is a permanent full-time position.
Reporting to:
This position reports to the Mass Transit Project department based in the UK. Part of the Mass Transit Project Team for Gunnebo Entrance Control Division.
