We are seeking a Scrap Purchasing Officer who will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring scrap materials essential for the slab casting process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, excellent negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of the scrap metal market. Responsibilities: Scrap Material Sourcing: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of scrap materials specifically suited for slab casting. Develop and maintain strong relationships with scrap suppliers to ensure a reliable and consistent supply chain. Conduct market research to stay informed about market trends, pricing, and availability of scrap materials. Negotiation and Procurement: Negotiate terms, pricing, and contracts with scrap suppliers to secure the best possible deals for the company. Place purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of scrap materials to meet the production requirements of the slab casting plant. Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations. Quality Control: Ensure that all purchased scrap materials meet the company's quality standards and specifications for slab casting. Coordinate with the quality control team to inspect and approve incoming scrap materials. Address and resolve any quality issues with suppliers promptly and effectively. Supplier Management: Maintain accurate records of suppliers, contracts, pricing, and purchase orders. Evaluate supplier performance and conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance with contractual terms and quality standards. Develop and implement strategies to improve supplier performance and reduce procurement costs. Cost Management: Monitor and control purchasing budgets to ensure cost-effective procurement of scrap materials. Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement initiatives to reduce procurement costs. Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, costs, and supplier performance to senior management. Compliance and Sustainability: Ensure all scrap purchasing activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies. Promote sustainable and ethical sourcing practices in line with company values. Work with the sustainability team to support environmental initiatives related to scrap material usage. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; relevant certifications are a plus. Minimum of 10 years of experience in procurement, preferably in the scrap metal or manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge of the scrap metal market and sourcing strategies. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using procurement software and ERP systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
