About the role A mechanical engineer designs, develops, and manages mechanic solutions to be applied to mechanical equipment. A mechanical engineer cooperates with other R&D departments in the designing phase and in every consequent phase of product development. The mechanical engineer is also responsible for troubleshooting and testing of the final product. Estimation of the overall project/product cost is also part of the job. The engineers make all required modifications and troubleshoot problem areas, follow safety regulations, and provide a detailed record of the project. Main responsibilities Design, model and test prototypes for products; Conduct research and create design proposals for projects; Develop project specifications and requirements; Establish design briefs, considering all implications of cost, safety and time constraints; Apply research, analytical, conceptual and planning skills, particularly mathematical modeling, CAD and basic FEM; Create concepts, performance and production criteria; Identify and select materials needed for production; Design and implement cost-effective equipment modifications to improve product safety and reliability; Identify and control hazards to achieve an acceptable level of risk; Discuss and solve simple or complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers; Conduct feasibility analysis, making sure a product can be made reliably and will perform consistently in specified operating environments; Produce general and detailed 2D and 3D documentation; Deliver reports at different phases of the project and present periodic updates of the project to the Engineering team; Create and maintain spare parts lists; Travel to production facilities to evaluate processes/product modifications; Support patent activities (if required); Take part in specialist or multidisciplinary team meetings; Go in Experimental department when needed to mount and test solutions of new products; Work together with blue collar workers in order to verify production assembly of designed solution. Requirements Able to use 3D CAD (SolidWorks & Inventor would be perfect); Able to embrace new techniques and technologies; Able to work under pressure; Able to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform system tests; Able to work in a development team; Critical thinking and problem-solving; Be ready to travel in NL and collaborate with the R&D Team in HCE (Italy).
