The mission of the position is to plan, coordinate and control all ESH activities in order to comply with legal requirements and continental requirements (e.g. optimize fire prevention and environmental protection, maximize employee safety and health as well as plant security). Furthermore, the position initiates and implements action plans for continuous improvement of all ESH relevant processes.
General Management and Strategy:
1. Coordinate all ESH activities for the plant.
2. Align and transform group and BA ESH strategy into action plans and ensure implementation.
3. Ensure the achievement of ESH targets according to internal and external customer expectations.
4. Initiate and implement continuous improvement activities by applying CBS methods and training measures.
5. Live and promote the ESH principles and methods (e.g. advise Plant Management on all ESH aspects).
6. Initiate and control investments for ESH equipment (e.g. training materials, external trainings, etc.).
7. Participate in and/or steer global or local ESH related and cross-functional projects.
Prepare, review and manage the budget and forecast of ESH cost centers, ensure timely submission of data to controlling and implement activities according to the established budget.
Planning & Implementation:
1. Manage fire brigade (where applicable) as well as plan and implement fire prevention measures according to standards.
2. Plan and implement occupational safety (e.g. safety briefings, legal obligations, hazardous substances management) according to standards.
3. Plan and implement plant security (e.g. external security service) and information security according to standards.
4. Plan and implement environmental protection (e.g. legal obligations regarding hazardous substances management, waste management, emissions and risk control and management, etc.) according to standards.
5. Plan and implement medical services (e.g. plant medical officer, workplace ergonomics, industrial hygiene management, etc.) as well as occupational health management according to standards.
6. Coordinate safety inspection procedures for new plant installations prior to their start-up.
7. Plan and conduct environmental and safety audits and compliance measures according to standards (i.e. CT management system, SH Corporate).
8. Implement external (e.g. ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001) and internal (e.g. ESH management manual, tools, KPIs) ESH standards and legal requirements and provide feedback and input for further development of standards.
9. Follow up on legal regulations and evaluate possible impacts on processes and facilities.
10. Ensure that all legally required permits are applied for in due time and that permit conditions are evaluated and implemented and advise plant management.
11. Check compliance with legal and internal regulations/standards/processes and implement measures together with local authorities.
12. Set up and implement GEMBA walk related to safety issues.
Crisis and Risk Management:
1. Plan and implement emergency and crisis management (e.g. fire, incidents of damage, natural or other exceptional events, etc.) according to standards.
2. Conduct risk analyses (i.e. GRC, environmental protection) and prepare concepts and emergency preparedness plans.
3. Ensure structured root cause analyses of incidents, define and implement sustainable measures.
Monitoring and Reporting:
1. Operate ESH performance monitoring (e.g. by KPI and target tracking) and identify, prioritize and implement ESH improvements (e.g. for work instructions, etc.).
2. Provide feedback and input for further development of standards regarding ESH processes (e.g. workshop concepts, methods, tools, etc.) to segment, BU or BA functions.
External Relationship Management:
Represent plant at negotiations with responsible authorities concerning ESH issues.
Integration:
1. Ensure local implementation of central ESH standards.
2. Embed Conti set of behavior and act as role model.
3. Lead plant EHS committee (define targets, plan and implement personnel training, act as point of reference with plant unions and RLS, identify and propose corrective actions, gather feedback and suggestions for continuous improvement, make EHS policies/rules/procedures available).
Experience:
1. Experience in implementation and management of security systems, fire prevention and protection systems, health management, environmental protection and occupational safety management systems, hazardous substance management: advanced.
2. Manufacturing related technologies, systems, infrastructures, standards and processes: basic.
3. Products, systems and technologies (functionalities and applications): advanced.
4. Experience in implementation of ESH principles, framework and ESH methods and tools: advanced.
5. Quality management (including quality policies, systems and processes, e.g. internal auditor skills according to ISO 19011): expert.
6. Local language & culture (intercultural sensitivity): expert.
7. Problem solving and decision making tools and techniques: advanced.
8. Lean production/CBS principles, methods and tools (e.g. production management system): advanced.
9. Communication techniques (incl. presentation, change management, negotiation and conflict resolution techniques): advanced.
10. Leadership & management skills (incl. team-building, delegation, performance management and people development techniques): advanced.
11. Project management skills, tools and techniques: basic.
Education / Certification:
University degree, preferably in engineering, natural sciences or related discipline or high school diploma and proof of functional knowledge of occupational safety and environmental protection.
Professional Experience:
3 or more years of professional experience in various ESH functions; cross-functional experience (e.g. in engineering, quality, purchasing or CBS preferred).
Project and/or Process Experience:
3 or more years of experience in industrial production processes.
Leadership Experience:
Experience preferably in operational units with functional and disciplinary responsibility for other individuals.
Intercultural / International Experience:
Experience in working with international teams on ESH topics and understanding of foreign cultures; proficient in English is mandatory.
