THE ROLE
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.
The Clean Room Facility is coordinated by Dr. Andrea Toma. The research focuses on the photophysical assessment (via steady-state and ultrafast spectroscopies) of novel hybrid systems with unique chemical and physical properties.
Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be:
* Optical characterization of hybrid nanophotonic devices, with the aim of exploring light-matter interaction in the strong coupling regime.
* Photocarrier dynamics investigation via Ultrafast Transient Absorption Spectroscopy.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
* A PhD in physics, material science or related disciplines
* Documented hands-on experience in ultrafast optics and spectroscopy with specific competences on femtosecond lasers and pulse shaping/spectral focusing
* Proficiency in the analysis and interpretation of ultrafast (femtosecond) spectroscopy data
* Strong publication record
* Good command of spoken and written English
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
* Complementary skills in nanofabrication
* Knowledge of software packages for designing, analyzing and optimizing nanophotonic systems (e.g. Comsol Multiphysics)
* Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
* Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
* Possess Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindset
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
* A yearly gross salary ranging between €35,000.00 and €45,000.00
* Private health care coverage
* Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
This open position/research is financed by the European Research Council within the project REPLY - REshaping Photocatalysis via Light-Matter hYbridization in Plasmonic Nanocavities. (Grant Agreement n. 101002422 - call identifier ERC-2020-COG).
Please submit your application using the online form and including a detailed CV, University transcripts, cover letter (outlining motivation, experience and qualifications), and contact details of 2 references.
Application’s deadline: May 24th, 2025.
