TXT is looking for a thesis candidate for a master's thesis project in the field of Industry 4.0 and 5.0 services for companies in the manufacturing sector.
Project title
Digital twin as-a servise based on asset administration shell
Background
The main objective of the project is to create a new Industry 4.0 and 5.0 service offering for companies in the manufacturing sector. The services are focused on the management and extraction of value from production data, leveraging the construction of the Digital Twin of the production process, in order to develop services such as quality prediction, production optimisation with minimisation of downtimes, machinery setup/maintenance and energy costs.
The INCREASE Project aims to offer an integrated, modular and complete system based on cutting-edge technologies such as Digital Twin, Artificial Intelligence, Extended Reality (XR) and others to support SMEs (but not only). This system enables manufacturing companies to exploit the benefits of Industry 5.0 services, while avoiding the need to invest significant resources in understanding and managing these technologies before tangible results are achieved. The main aim is also to help companies move towards operating models that are leaner, predictive and able to adapt to change through the use of innovative digital tools and change management strategies focused on simplifying the adoption of new technologies.
Main activities:
Define, design and implement a cloud-based environment for the management, monitoring and maintenance of physical assets through direct interaction (to be standardised through open APIs) with MES-type systems. This environment will have to support the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) for the design of the Digital Twin in order to guarantee the openness of the proposed solution.
Requirements:
Knowledge of system integration principles;
In-depth knowledge of the Java language and main Java-based frameworks (i.e., Spring, Spring boot, etc.) Alternatively, Python and derivatives (i.e., FastAPI, Flask, etc.) may be evaluated;
Knowledge of cloud and microservice architectures;
Knowledge of technical documentation using UML for artefact design;
Knowledge of Swagger API for service design.
What you are going to learn:
You will gain insight into the AAS standard, which is increasingly important for ensuring interoperability of Digital Twin solutions;
You will be able to engage with leading experts in the field.
Additional skills:
Good knowledge of English (written and spoken), communication and social skills and problem-solving orientation.
We offer:
Internship opportunity with the possibility of integration into the company and working in an international context;
Flexible working environment with flexible working hours and smart working policies;
Internationality: global presence with offices in Milan, Berlin, Seattle, Dallas, Paris, and collaboration between multicultural teams;
Teamwork: strong orientation towards collaboration, with team building activities and company events.
Location: possibility of on-site work in Cologno Monzese and/or hybrid mode.
