The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company's environmental, health, and safety programs. The EH&S Specialist ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry standards and best practices. The EH&S Specialist also provides training, guidance, and support to employees and managers on EH&S matters.

Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Keep up to date with new and revised regulations - Interpret these regulations as they apply to the site operations - Develop policies, procedures and work instructions as required - Conduct training on the proper use of policies and procedures - Ensure regular assessment of the performance and use of policies and procedures
2. Coordinate or perform a variety of EHS activities to maintain compliance with various regulatory various regional and state regulatory authorities. (INAIL, ASL)
3. Maintain relations with the competent authorities and certification bodies
4. Investigate and respond to incidents, accidents, and complaints involving EH&S issues
5. Implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence and ensure compliance
6. Conduct safety observations on a regular basis.
7. Advise and coach leadership/employees on various EHS topics
8. Conduct EHS training for new employees and current employees Document and maintain training records
9. Understand, implement, report, and monitor on EHS measures and metrics
10. Establish and maintain regulatory compliance metrics
11. Ability to research and write effective EHS procedures and policies
12. Maintain constructive relationship with internal and external customers
13. Implement all the EHS Franklin global requests: Hazard ID declaration, Gemba Walk, etc..
14. Participate to EHS Franklin meeting and presenting the safety records of the plants
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilitiesThis position reports to the site Managing Director, dotted line to Plant Manager
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Education, Experience & Abilities ·Bachelors degree in safety and or environmental engineering or a related field (required)· Minimum of 5 years of experience in EH&S management or specialist role, mechanical industry
· Candidates trained to the position of RSPP as stipulated in the State-Regions Agreement· Certification in ISO, or other relevant EH&S standards· Knowledge of federal, state, and local EH&S regulations and requirements· Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate EH&S programs and policies· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills· Ability to work independently and as part of a team· Good Knowledge of written and spoken English
