Job Summary:
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to oversee and enhance our quality assurance processes for heat exchanger manufacturing and servicing across the EU market. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with European and international quality standards, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support manufacturing and service operations to meet customer expectations. This role will require strong technical expertise in quality management, regulatory compliance, and supplier quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems in compliance with EU regulations ( PED 2014/68/EU, ISO 9001) and other industry codes and standards such as ASME, TEMA, API, etc.
* Conduct quality inspections and testing of heat exchanger components and assemblies to ensure compliance with industry standards.
* Lead root cause analysis and corrective action (CAPA) efforts to resolve manufacturing and customer quality issues.
* Work closely with engineering, production, and suppliers to improve manufacturing processes and reduce defects.
* Manage supplier quality, conduct audits, and ensure vendors meet material and process standards.
* Oversee certification and compliance requirements for products sold across the EU.
* Analyze quality metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability and performance.
* Support internal and external audits to maintain compliance with European regulatory bodies and customer requirements.
* Provide training to teams on quality procedures, best practices, and compliance requirements.
* Review sub-vendor documents (ITP, welding book, NDEs procedures)
* Preparation of final documentation (PED dossier and Data book)
* Travel across EU to follow inspections as needed
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
* 3+ years of experience in quality assurance or quality engineering in a manufacturing environment, preferably in heat exchangers or thermal systems .
* Strong understanding of EU quality and safety regulations, including the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED) and CE marking requirements.
* Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems and related auditing processes.
* Proficiency in quality methodologies such as Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC, and 8D problem-solving .
* Knowledge of non-destructive testing (NDT) and material testing methods.
* Knowledge of rules relating to the qualification of welding (ASME IX and EN 15614)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to work in a multinational environment, supporting customers across the EU.
* Fluency in Italian and English is required; proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
* Knowledge of welding inspection and NDT techniques specific to heat exchanger manufacturing.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Certification in quality management (CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, or equivalent).
* Experience working with international customers and regulatory agencies .
* Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems for quality tracking and reporting.
* ASNT 9712 Level II Certification for NDT
* CSWIP Welding Inspector 3.1
