Job Responsibilities
1. Conduct environmental impact assessments for energy projects, overseeing assessments of biophysical components.
2. Identify and evaluate potential environmental risks, and develop innovative mitigation measures to minimize adverse impacts.
3. Conduct E&S due diligence to evaluate environmental and social risks associated with energy projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
4. Conduct thorough audits to assess environmental compliance, social standards, and financial requirements.
5. Develop advanced and tailored mitigation strategies to address complex environmental and social risks, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
6. Provide strategic guidance to project teams on integrating mitigation measures into project plans and financing agreements.
7. Lead collaboration efforts with engineers, economists, legal advisors, and other professionals to analyze data and assess project feasibility.
8. Provide expert environmental insights to inform decision-making processes and enhance project design.
9. Prepare detailed and insightful environmental reports for stakeholders, including investors, financiers, and regulatory authorities.
10. Effectively communicate findings, risks, and mitigation strategies to support project financing activities and decision-making.
11. Mentor junior consultants and provide guidance on complex environmental issues, project management, and client engagement.
12. Support proposal preparation and client liaison activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives and environmental requirements.
13. Travel internationally to conduct site visits and assess environmental, and health&safety aspects of energy projects.
14. Review environmental documentation, compliance measures, and project implementation on-site, providing expert recommendations.
15. Provide oversight and support for project management tasks, including budget monitoring, schedule management, and milestone tracking.
16. Coordinate with project teams to ensure the timely delivery of environmental deliverables and compliance with financing requirements.
Requirements
17. More than 5 years of experience in similar roles
18. Experience in environmental impact assessment methodologies, ESDD compliance, External Monitoring and Environmental and Social Management Systems with project financing environmental and social standards.
19. In-depth understanding and application of IFC Performance Standards as well as ADB/EBRD/Equator Principles or other international Lenders’ Environmental, social, health and safety standards, in the context of infrastructure and/or energy sectors
20. Ability to perform air quality modelling and/or noise quality modelling, ability to use Windpro to undertake shadow flicker, noise and visual impact assessments is an asset
21. Professional proficiency in spoken and written English, working knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset
22. Flexibility to travel worldwide on shorts assignments

Education
MSc or MA degree in Environmental/Chemical Engineering or Environmental Sciences, background and focus on environmental impact assessment from industrial activities.
