We are dedicated to providing exceptional legal services, guiding clients through complex legal processes with professionalism and sensitivity.The role The Legal Assistant in the Citizenship team performs vital tasks for the legal proceedings of Italian citizenship court cases at MLI, whilst keeping the client informed of progress at the required times. The Legal Assistant is trained by, and follows the guidance of the Team Leader and the Managing Partner.Key responsibilitiesClient relations: Give updates, collect information from, and clear instructions to clients, by email, phone or in person, in English.Liaison with public bodies: Interact with the Ministry of Justice, Italian Courts and Comuni across Italy to complete specific tasks in legal proceedings, including use of specific Government software (SLpct and/or Quadra), certified email (PEC), and preparing physical files.Drafting of documents: Collect and securely save client information and documents; draft the Power of Attorney to represent the client; assist the Team Leader and Attorneys as required.Updating matters on case management system: Update MLI’s case management system, preparing, uploading and saving documents and files.Office administration and teamwork: Scan and organize client documents and files, and other support tasks required to keep the legal team and wider citizenship team’s work progressing.Essential skills and qualitiesExcellent communication skills in Italian, and a good level of English (minimum C1) – in person, on the phone and in writingOrganizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to prioritize tasks – a proactive person who enjoys seeing the results of their hard work and how it contributes to the firm’s success and helps othersConfident user of cloud tools and office software (such as Google Workspace) and a quick learner when using new softwareGood literacy and numeracy skillsProfessional and polite attitude at all times, appropriate to a law firmRespectful of privacy and confidentiality at all times.Desirable skillsSuccessful completion of a law-related university degree in ItalyPrevious experience working in a law firm or public office in Italy.Key contactsOur clientsTeam Leader and AttorneysColleagues: Citizenship, Translation and Accounting in particularPublic bodies.
