We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join our team in Frascati, Italy.
This role involves developing and deploying AI-driven solutions for various domains, including EO, predictive analytics, industrial automation, and NLP, ensuring scalable and efficient model training, deployment, and monitoring. You will collaborate with experts from different fields to drive AI research, rapid prototyping, and operationalization of machine learning models.

Tasks and activities
The scope of work will include:
Develop AI/ML solutions across multiple domains, including computer vision, time-series forecasting, anomaly detection, and LLM applications.
Design and implement deep learning architectures for image processing, object detection, segmentation, and NLP tasks.
Work with large-scale datasets, handling data processing, augmentation, and efficient model training.
Implement AI/ML pipelines for training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring in HPC/MLOps environments.
Optimize distributed computing workflows using SLURM, Kubernetes, or similar HPC workload managers.
Apply MLOps best practices, including CI/CD for ML models, version control, automated retraining, and model monitoring.
Develop custom AI solutions that integrate multi-modal data sources (e.g., imagery, time series, structured/unstructured text).
Work closely with domain experts from EO, engineering, and other disciplines to build robust AI applications.
Ensure scalability and performance optimization of AI models for both research and production settings.
Skills and experience
The following skills and experience are mandatory:
Proven experience across multiple AI domains, including:
Computer Vision: Object detection, segmentation, classification.
Time-Series Forecasting: Predictive modelling for structured/unstructured data.
Anomaly Detection: Outlier detection in various data modalities.
Large Language Models (LLMs): NLP, text generation, and fine-tuning transformer-based models.
Strong experience with AI/ML frameworks, including TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-Learn.
Expertise in MLOps tools (MLFlow, Kubeflow, or similar) for model lifecycle management.
Experience with SLURM or other HPC workload managers for large-scale AI training.
Strong software engineering skills in Python (or C++), with experience in containerized AI environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with cloud-based AI infrastructures (AWS/GCP/Azure) and hybrid cloud-HPC integration.
Understanding of data engineering principles, including pipeline automation and distributed processing.
Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:
Experience with multi-modal AI (e.g., fusing EO, sensor, and text data in AI models).
Knowledge of self-supervised learning and AI model compression techniques.
Exposure to generative AI models, including diffusion models and foundation models.
Experience with edge AI deployment and optimization.
