NextChem S.p.A. is a holding company controlling several different daughter companies that act as licensors of technologies in the chemicals / petrochemicals / fertilizers sectors as well as proprietary & critical equipment suppliers within the same technological domains.
Whenever the relevant proprietary and critical equipment is not produced in house, the PEQ function has the mandate to set up its strategy and execute its supply chain.
The PEQ Senior Expediter follows up the execution and delivery of the contracted/outsourced proprietary equipment. He reports functionally to the PEQ Expediting & logistics Manager and on project level to the PEQ manager of the relevant NextChem daughter company.
The PEQ Senior Expediter also keeps a close cooperation with the PEQ inspectors and logistics team, project control and the project manager.
Main task and responsibilities:
In agreement with the Expediting & Logistics Manager & in coordination with the relevant PEQ manager, define the type of expediting to be carried out and the necessary frequency, in line with the budget assigned to the supply.
Receive hand over of supply contract/POs from buyers and/or applicable company tools.
Organize and attend kick off meetings
Ensure technical documents are exchanged and reviewed according to pre-established approval cycles and control their progress.
Verify and validate, in agreement with the Expediting and Inspection Manager, any quality issues that may impact the maintenance of contractual deliveries, including the scheduling of inspections.
Monitor the progress for the assigned supply and produce expediting reports within the agreed frequency and always following any activity carried out towards the supplier, using company tools;
Request information from the supplier in advance of the contractual date regarding weights and volumes, preliminary packing lists, transport drawings, and verify their reliability;
Set up a typical progress report format for each main piece of equipment, assign relative weights to each production phase and monitor the production process with suppliers. (where applicable)
In case of any delay, ask supplier to produce a recovery plan, analyze it and if approved follow it up
In coordination with the Expediting and Logistics Manager Inform Project manager/s if any contractual action needs to be taken towards the supplier, provide support in drafting letters.
Authorizes supplier to invoice when is paid. (if applicable)
Analyze expediting reports received from external agencies, highlighting critical issues and agreeing on corrective actions in collaboration with the competent functions, monitoring their execution and results;
Verify, in the case of using external agencies for expediting activities, compliance with the contract in place between the parties;
Propose the application of liquidated damages in case of delayed delivery. Keep a constant contact with the relevant project managers.
The Senior Field Expediter’s mission is to ensure the on-time delivery of the assigned proprietary or critical supplies. The Senior Field Expediter will constantly monitor the progress of suppliers and will critically review their production planning. In case of progress delays he will engage with vendors to work and follow up on a recovery plan to minimize any impacts. Moreover The Senior field Expediter provides with timely information to project functions regarding the supply progress, highlighting any deviations and issues encountered, necessary for the correct planning of material preparations to benefit shipping activities.
Knowledge and Educational Level:
Mechanical Engineering background (Bachelor is preferred)
Experience in Static Equipment and fabrication processes (design or production preferred)
Experience in Expediting or project management
Desired knowledge:
Understanding of production cycles
Ability to analyze production planning with varying detail level
Contractual understanding
Understanding of priorities
