Industry Strategy Consulting Director
RINA is currently recruiting for an Industry Strategy Consulting Director to join its office in Rome, Italy.
Mission
Within RINA's Industry Business Unit, we are looking for a Strategy Consulting Director who will be responsible for the strategic leadership of the project management function. This role oversees large-scale programs, ensures the achievement of business objectives, and aligns project delivery with the company’s long-term vision. The Director mentors senior managers and drives a culture of excellence and innovation in project management.
Key Accountabilities
1. Strategic Leadership: Define the strategic direction for the engineering project management function, ensuring alignment with corporate goals; Lead the development and implementation of project management frameworks, policies, and processes.
2. Team Leadership & Governance: Oversee multiple project teams through senior managers, ensuring optimal performance and consistent delivery excellence; Promote a high-performance culture by coaching, mentoring, and developing senior project leaders.
3. Large-Scale Program Management: Provide strategic oversight for large, complex programs and portfolios for external customers; Manage project risks and financials, ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction.
4. Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement and standardization of project execution processes to optimize quality and efficiency; Implement tools and systems to monitor project performance, governance, and compliance with industry standards.
5. Customer and Stakeholder Management: Act as an executive point of contact for major customers, fostering long-term relationships and trust; Represent the organization at key meetings, negotiations, and external forums; Lead the preparation and submission of major contracts, tenders, and quotations, collaborating with relevant teams to ensure successful contract closure.
6. Resource Management & Budgeting: Ensure effective resource planning and allocation across projects, balancing capacity and business priorities; Manage the departmental budget, identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising quality.
7. Performance Reporting & Metrics: Oversee the creation of executive reports for leadership, summarizing progress, risks, and financial outcomes; Define key metrics for the function and ensure they are measured and met.
Education
Master’s Degree in Engineering, General Business Administration, or Finance Management; MBA/Post Graduate Degree.
Qualifications
1. Significant work experience: Up to 10-12 years in project and program management within engineering or technical environments.
2. Senior leadership experience: At least 5 years managing large teams and complex projects.
3. Demonstrated ability to identify, secure, and manage resources from national and European funding programs.
4. Strong track record in identifying opportunities and trends, particularly in public funding sources to support capital-intensive projects.
5. A well-established network and strong relationships with institutional and economic stakeholders in key markets.
6. Excellent leadership, team-building, and coaching skills.
7. Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
8. Advanced stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
9. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (Agile, Lean Six Sigma, Waterfall).
