Description
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Junior Bogie Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate has a robust mechanical background and is passionate about railway vehicles, feeling comfortable in performing a wide range of technical tasks.
The position is based in Pistoia.

Accountabilities
1. He/she understands the functional logic project (technical specifications and descriptions, functional schemes, assembly drawings) and the system into which bogie is interfacing.
2. He/she analyzes any operational problems on bogie components, identifying mitigation actions (in the short term) and final design solutions according to the lead of Senior Bogie Engineer and in collaboration with:sub-project teams (internal and external)Production Engineering department (concurrent engineering)suppliers (co-design approach)field engineers (feedbacks and data collection from rolling stocks operation).
3. He/she draws up independently or in collaboration with internal and external resources all the technical documentation necessary for materials purchase of and for implementation of project changes (3D models, 2D dwgs, technical specifications…etc…)
4. He /she follows manufacturing during prototyping stages and validation tests of the components and of the whole bogie, both or bench or on the field.
Required Skills/Knowledge
5. Expertise to perform the tasks as described in section above.
6. Master of Science or technical degree preferably in Mechanical or Aeronautical Eng.
7. Minimum 2 years of experience in railway vehicles projects in an engineering role as mechanical engineer, preferably bogie designer.
8. Knowledge of fatigue failure mechanisms and of welding design/process concepts, with special focus to bogie frame.
9. Knowledge of FEM/FEA methodology would be a plus.
10. Availability for short domestic and overseas trips.
Desired Skills/Knowledge
11. Basic knowledge of 3D modeling (in CREO), 2D drawing (CREO and Autocad) of complex assemblies and welded structures.
12. Basic knowledge of FEM/FEA softwares (Patran/Nastran, Hypermesh…etc…)
13. Analytic approach.
14. Team-working attitude.
15. Flexibility and perception.
16. Orientation to results.
Education/Qualifications
Master Degree in Engineering (Mechanical represents a preferential title).
Languages
Knowledge of written and spoken English at least B2 level.
