The project
We want to make the design of houses and their direct manufacturing accessible to everyone through an architectural design software, with an astonishing graphical visualization and very simple to use.
What we’re developing is the first BIM software able to realize real buildings! Brilliant inventions take shape from brilliant minds. We all believe our product is extraordinary so we’re looking for extraordinary people too.
Role and responsibilities
We are developing structural analysis software in Python designed to work in a distributed environment. The software will need to coordinate input and output from/to an external building design software and dispatch the messages to various services.
We are currently seeking a talented and motivated Backend Software Engineer to join an interdisciplinary team composed of Mathematical optimization experts, DevOps and Computational mechanics engineers dedicated to solving the next challenge of software engineering. You will design, prototype, and implement a web service responsible for interfacing with custom reporting solutions, both existing and future. Your main responsibilities will be to handle software deployment, work on the architecture, and have ample autonomy and ownership over a very challenging and innovative project. You should be comfortable with from-scratch API design and associated back-end software stack specification. To be successful in this role, you will need strong software engineering skills, excellent interpersonal communication, and experience accepting and giving meaningful feedback on technical designs and code reviews.
Examples of tasks you will do:
* Take ownership of the architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of the backend API stack you will develop, using software engineering best practices and other cutting-edge methodologies.
* Collaborate with colleagues in design and code reviews.
* Develop means for deploying, scaling, and monitoring software systems.
* Characterize complex problems related to the scalability, reliability, performance, and security of the software.
* Integrate the software with other systems and services.
* Own projects and always seek ways to improve efficiency and operations.
* Work closely with the DevOps team to integrate software solutions with the provided golden paths, ensuring seamless deployment and adherence to best practices.
Must have tech skills:
* Solid back-end experience in building server Python applications.
* Knowledge of various Python backend frameworks (e.g., Flask, Django, Tornado).
* Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures.
* Strong understanding of cloud-native design principles, microservices, and RESTful APIs.
* Experience with object-oriented programming and knowledge of software engineering principles and their applications.
* Familiarity with databases (SQL and NoSQL), data storage, and data processing solutions.
* Knowledge of modern software development methodologies, such as Agile and Scrum.
* Familiarity with how to create an efficient, reliable, scalable, and maintainable software architecture.
* Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines for fast and frequent deployment.
* Experience in end-to-end development processes, including unit, integration & functional testing.
* Good understanding of logging, monitoring and alerting systems.
Nice to have tech skills:
* Knowledge of C++.
* Exposure to Protobuf and Grpc.
* Exposure to NumPy and related Python libraries.
Soft skills:
* Excellent English.
* Self-driven, straight-to-the-point approach to decisions.
* Humility and openness to fair criticism and growth via peer reviews of one's work by other team members.
* Values well-written and documented software.
* Effective communicator.
