Barilla G. & R. Fratelli is looking for a Global Pasta Packaging Development Sr Technologist, within the Global Packaging unit. The position will report to the Global Pasta Packaging Senior Manager and it will be based in our Headquarters in Parma.
Job Purpose
To lead the development and implementation of pasta packaging, with specific focus on all pasta ranges packed in film (double squared bottom, pillow), keeping the focus on the consumer needs while achieving the optimal balance among superior quality, environmental responsibility, and operational efficiency inside the perimeter of competence.
Key Accountabilities
1. To develop and industrialize new packaging solutions (Consumer, Trade and Handling Units), based on existing and/or available technologies, starting from consumers and customers’ needs understanding and applying a Shopper/ Consumer/ Customer’s Design driven approach.
2. To guarantee that the developed packaging solutions ensure recipe’s protection all along the product’s shelf life, while matching logistic and distribution channels key requirements both for primary (shelf) and secondary (out of shelf) placement, enhancing packaging sustainability.
3. To work in close partnership with project leaders and of other relevant departments to deliver projects according to the expected quality and industrial standards and in line with the defined costs and timing.
4. To lead packaging projects through the Phase and Gate process.
5. Design to Value projects: to identify opportunities to maximize the Company’s profitability thus guaranteeing the customers and consumer’s expectations are met, working in close collaboration with other functions.
6. Supply security: work in close collaboration with other GRDQ, Planning and Purchasing colleagues, to put in place all needed actions to have a stable supply for films and making sure that backup plans are in place.
7. Packaging technical specs: create, define and manage new and existing packaging material specifications, and properly communicate with internal stakeholdes and suppliers.
8. Able to coach more junior team in the technical requirements of the role.
Requirements
9. Bachelor’s degree in Food/Packaging Science-technology, Engineering, Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry or related fields
10. At least 5 years in packaging environment (design, development, industrialization, quality & fs, sustainability, engineering, etc) - FMCG companies
11. Experience with the use of AutoCAD or drawing software.
12. FLUENT Italian and English is a must, French/German knowledge is not mandatory but considered a plus.
