Italy is the Group’s Competence center for the design, production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.
We are currently looking for a Project Network Engineer to join Thales Land and Air Systems in its NAS Center of Competence Gorgonzola (near Milan).
Responsibilities
Main work tasks are:
➢ Planning and commissioning of network-based infrastructures
➢ Collaborate with Network Architects in the definition of our complex distributed systems
➢ Support the configuration of network infrastructure and Thales products responsible for remote control system
➢ Support the investigation of interoperability issues due to networking issues in co-operation with the designated project manager, customer service and any other resources (Product Manager, Quality, local partners [KIP], others)
Further important work tasks are:
➢ Providing technical support during tender / contract negotiations with customers
➢ Providing detailed technical tender comments (e.g. point-by-point statements) in assistance with designated resources such as Product Managers, others
➢ Performing Site Surveys including Reports for domestic and export projects in the field of terrestrial navigation systems and herewith related sub-systems ➢ Selecting the needed Navaid system configuration and preparing recommendations to other non-Navaid systems, based on experience, previous system configurations and computer aided simulations
➢ Providing technical specifications to known suppliers; requesting quotes as well as supporting selection of new suppliers (if needed…) in direct co-operation with procurement department
➢ Providing a project specific design documentation within the frame of a service file, partially assisted by draftsman activities
➢ Providing the as-built documentation according to customer / site requirements, partially assisted by draftsman activities
➢ Clarifying supporting technical on-site issues (going on site if needed) in co-operation with the designated project manager, customer service and any other resources (Product Manager, Quality, Installation & Commissioning department, local partners [KIP], others)
Required Skills and Experience:
The candidate must have a wide general spectrum / all-round knowledge of understanding within many technical fields starting with simple civil works and ending with full engineering capabilities.
➢ Degree in technical engineering, with focus on information technology / telecommunication and / or in combination with electrical engineering / RF propagation
➢ 4 years minimum experience in the field of project / system engineering (domestic/export)
➢ You hold an extensive understanding within network standards (VLAN, Routing, VPNs, DNS, DSL, etc.) (best case you own a Cisco CCNP certificate)
➢ Experience in Configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
➢ Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TSL, SSH, FTP)
➢ You have an extensive Linux know-how and knowledge with Linux desktop- and Server Operating System
➢ You possess programming experience and handle script languages for system automation (e.g. Python, Perl or Bash)
➢ Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
➢ Fast understanding to various regulations / standards such as EN, ICAO or specific local standards
➢ Specifically designed remote control functions by use of copper, fiber optic, radio, GSM / LTE / xG, SAT as a media
➢ Fast understanding / knowledge built-up in the technical field of Airspace Mobility Solutions as you must be capable to negotiate with customers and possibly consultants
The candidate should have:
Languages (besides Italian):
➢ English, technically firm and fluent in writing and speech
➢ Additional languages, such as German Spanish, French to a technical firm level thus to be capable to support/handle tender/contracts requirements
Willingness to travel abroad to any worldwide destination, even to critical regions (countries where travel restrictions apply and those requiring specific rules of action, are controlled by THALES Corporate Security)
