We are seeking a talented Senior Staff Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Florence, South Carolina. In this role, you will be responsible for electrical system integration, playing a crucial role in new product development and maintaining product integrity. Your expertise will be vital in evaluating change opportunities and integrating new component designs into existing systems, while meeting cost and schedule commitments.
On a typical day you will:
1. Collaborate with global and regional multi-functional teams to support NPI and PLM engineering activities, including needs analysis, functional allocation, cost-benefit analysis, architecture development and evaluation, trade-off analysis, and risk assessment.
2. Lead and perform electrical qualification testing for electrical engineering projects and products.
3. Prepare or support system-level design failure mode and effects analyses before development starts; verify requirements and design with modeling, simulation, and testing.
4. Read and understand schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical assembly drawings, and building layouts to analyze complex problems, identify root causes, and develop innovative solutions.
5. Collaborate across disciplines with mechanical engineers, software engineers, manufacturing personnel, and field personnel.
6. Conduct hands-on integration, validation, verification, and troubleshooting of pre-production systems and workflows.
7. Support current strategic plans, roadmaps, engineering tasks, and testing for electrical systems, services, and features within the Otis product framework.
Basic Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 7 years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
2. Proficient in power distribution, protection, control systems, and familiar with North American electrical codes and standards.
3. Understanding of power components, distribution, protection, and controls theory and applications.
4. Experience with wiring diagrams, system analysis, motor, and control applications.
5. Worked with suppliers, third parties, and code agencies like UL, CSA, ASME, NFPA, TSSA, NEC.
6. Skilled in ECAD tools such as Cadence, PSpice, ViewLogic, AutoCAD, E3.
7. Collaborated across disciplines with engineers and personnel in various fields.
8. Experienced in PCB design and manufacturing processes.
9. Familiar with test and measurement equipment.
10. Able to develop product requirements under constraints and pressures, ensuring quality.
11. Hands-on lab experience with electrical architecture, embedded software, and test equipment.
12. Solid electrical engineering background: elevator systems knowledge is a plus.
13. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and logical reasoning skills.
14. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
